Hi everyone. I have been a lurker here for a while and just thought I would post and say hi. My hair has been thinning for the last several years, but I have only been losing it faster for the last few.
For the past four years I have been using a hair product called X-Fusion which helps cover up the thinning spots. It is keratin protein that mimics hair and binds to your existing hairs. The product actually works amazing, but over time especially the past year or two I have been having to use a lot of the product. And even spray it directly on my scalp which is not how you are supposed to use it. Well finally it got to the point where the product was easy to mess up and you would see real small parts of my scalp.
I just got sick of it and did some research. Some of my research led me to this forum and some other websites. I finally settled on getting a buzz cut. I was looking at a guard 2 cut but my hair stylist talked me into a 4 on top and 2 on the sides and back. When I got it cut while I liked the sides and back I was shocked about the top. It really showed my thinning probably slightly more then the longer hair. I was hoping that it would help blend the thinning like I was reading it would. She recommended that I grow the top to an 8 and keep the side cut at a 2.
So I left disappointed and was afraid what my wife was going to say. She was actually very supportive and said that she was ok with it. This all happened on Monday. Flash forward to Thursday and I told my wife that I wanted to cut it to a 2 all over like I originally wanted. My wife said that it looked better and I agreed. Right away after I looked at it, I was like what the heck lets try a 1. So we did and she was "like this is really short I am not sure if you are going to like this haircut". So I was worried but you know what it was not bad.
I think that it helps conceal my thinning even better then a 2 and I personally think that I have a pretty good head shape to pull it off. But I will let you guys be the judge of that. It is shorter then I thought it would be even though I looked at a lot of pictures of a 1 buzz cut. Maybe it is because it is on my head and not someone else

. I am not sure if I am going to keep it at a 1 or let it grow to a 2. While I think that it looks pretty good on me I am having a hard time getting totally used to it. And a 2 cut was not as shocking to me so I may grow it out to a 2 and leave it. Eventually when I thin out much more i will go Sly.

Sorry if I rambled on in my story and let me know what you guys think. Take care.
