Hello everyone. My name Is Mike. I live in South Florida where the weather is extremely hot. I'm 18 years old, but I get mistaken anywhere from 22-25. Nothing ever below 21. I have always wanted to shave my head, and with Halloween coming up, and convincing my girlfriend, she finally said i could go through with it. I'm nervous. My hair is black, jet black. I never really had a shaved head before, and I'm nervous about how bad will my head shape me, how white my scalp will be. I just need some advice, and maybe something to help calm my nerves. I'm really excited. To finally do it, and I'm glad to see a lot of people are doing it as well. Any advice or encouragement is appreciated. Thank you and will post before and after video/pictures this weekend.

let me tell you. you live in a open-minded state, where people usually don't give a F.
go for it, shave your head if that's what you're after

do not worry about the headshape, all bald heads are alike

Welcome! Nervousness is normal for first-time headshavers....just treat it as just another haircut and you will be okay. If you don't like it you can always grow it back...Who knows, maybe the GF will like it too!

Don't worry what people say. There will be negative people but a lot more positive people. I wish you luck and welcome to the sly family.

Welcome Mike, from another Floridian.
You've got nothing to worry about. You are in the ideal situation - wanting to shave your head versus the "have to do something" position.
With the black hair you will definitely have a shadow, which is perfectly normal and acceptable. You will notice it far more than anyone else ... just accept it. With small doses of sunshine your white scalp will develop color and the shadow may become less obvious but it's unlikely to go away. A fellow I work with is in the same situation and he always looks great: shaved, tanned, and with the shadow. It's actually a very good, distinctive look.
Head shape? Everybody's gone one. Every one is unique. Every one looks fine. Cross that off your "worry list."
From reading your post a couple of times, I don't think you really need any encouragement. You've got plenty of enthusiasm to carry you through.
My advice, however, is this: Enjoy the experience. The first shave, which formalizes something you've wanted to do, is incredible. Take photos. And please post here to share the experience. Your story may be especially helpful to other guys in their teens who want to shave (regardless of the reason) but are lacking the confidence to do it.

just do it and you will please yourself. Go slowly in exposing to sun particularly where you are. It will tan in time.

Welcome Mike. Wow, you sound excited and ready to make the plunge. Good. I was too. My hair was dark too, but like others said it blends over time. You can set aside 15 minutes every afternoon and sit in the sun and think or read. I also think the dark hair line looks cool on guys. Good luck, amigo....and Go Canes!

Welcome, and as others have said don't worry about others. I grew up in South Florida and buzzed my head all the time, with the occasional shave, and the only thing that was ever said to me was "Be careful you don't burn your head". The white scalp will disappear over time, would recommend some type of sun screen though; I never used any, but wish I did in retrospect with how hot my head got.

Welcome Mike!
Make sure you have all you need for the shave, prep properly, don't rush and it will be just fine.
Let us know how it went.

Welcome Mike!
Once the deed is done you'll ask yourself "What took me so long".

Welcome to the club, Mike. I think everyone worries about their head shape when they first go sly but it's really a non-issue. And getting some color on your dome won't take very long.
That being said, I have a question for you: why do you need your girl friend's permission to shave your own head? It's your choice not hers.

Welcome Mike!
Once the deed is done you'll ask yourself "What took me so long".
That's what I was going to say.
Go for it, guy. It will look good.

Mike, bald heads and the south go together!
You have nothing to worry about (head shave or any other issue). Be sure to follow the 30 day rule. With jet black hair, expect to see some 'shadow'. Also expect to need to shave your head daily. You did not mention whether you had a receding hairline or other MPB indications. I'll assume you don't. You're going for BBC (Bald by choice). That's me, too.

Thank you for all the support. I am doing it by choice, no sign of hair loss, yet. It is scheduled for tomorrow at 11. Pictures will be posted. I was nervous this morning, but seeing a bunch of support helped me. Pictures tomorrow everyone.
