I just finished watching the Royals beatup on the White Sox, 8-1. I think we're still in last place. But we're making up ground.
Maybe making up ground on the Sox, but 14 games is a long way from 1st place. Since the Tigers got blowed out 11-1 tonight and the Tribe won 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th, we're back in first place. Ben Francisco in his first major league start hit his first major league hit for his first major league home run to win it in the 9th.
Yes, it is a long way from first place. But tonight was our first 5 game winning streak in almost 3 years. Just looking for a little ray of hope.
If you are looking for a ray of hope, be glad you're not a Pittsburgh Pirate fan.
They are in the middle of their 13th year of consecutive loosing streak. Tonight they have only their 3rd sell out of the season. And there is an organized effort for a complete walkout after the 3rd inning in protest of the owner not putting up the money for a better team
Good series(no BaldRob I'm not talking about the Crosstown Classic). On a serious note, did you see Ozzie pick off the royals.com stickers posted on the dugout? Think he was a little nervous today?
All right, go ahead, rub it in...
All right, go ahead, rub it in...
Naw, seriously...Ozzie was picking at the "royals.com" logo. By the end of the game, they got him on camera tearing off the "a"...leaving it as "ls.com".
Well, at least we made 'em nervous. Good series. I wish we could have at least picked-up 2 out of and maybe get out of the basement. Congrats on your win. There is always next time.
I think it's gonna be a couple of weeks before I can get some tickets again.
I haven't been to an Indians game in four years. I went a couple of times a year thru the '90's when they had 400+ consecutive sell outs. Free from the company. Since I lost that job, I haven't had access to free tickets. But we have the Mahoning Valley Scrappers from the NY-Penn league playing just one mile from my house. A lot cheaper.
The company my wife works for has season tickets and she's in-charge of them. So we usually get first pick of games that we want (except for ones that the company owner or his son want). The seats are pretty good and are just behind 3rd base.
A couple of years ago, her company had a partial season of "Crown Royal Seats". These were in a special section right behind home plate. You could come an hour before the game for an all-you-can-eat buffet and then during the game there were waiters to bring you anything you wanted (all included in the ticket price). Only problem was the tickets were $200/seat. The company ran into harder times and had to cut out the frills. My kids still refer to the days when we had the "rich people seats".
