Two quick thoughts... with the public in the general, sometimes people may stereotype younger bald guys as thuggish, however unfair it is.  A steady smile should quell anyone's doubts about your meaning well.  If chicks don't dig a happy dude giving them attention because of some hangup about style, they weren't worth the time to begin with.  I admit to thinking about how my options have changed since going sly too.  I've come to the conclusion that those thoughts are a self fulfilling prophecy.

Second thought.  It could be worth sticking with a plain disposable razor at the beginning of the journey at least.  With a little practice it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes for a full shave start to finish.  The hair I have left is thin like yours and I have had success with a regular old bic.
