Hi all,
I've recently become a member of the buzzed club and I'm travelling around Europe for a month starting next week. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences of being bald (or nearly bald) in Europe, especially where there is a lot of stigma associated with such a hair style, or lack thereof. I'm thinking places like Poland and the former Soviet countries.
Cheers
I live in europe. got some bad feedback, but I got over it and now I'm rocking the bald look. they see me rollin', they hatin'
I've just spent two months traveling in France and Germany. In francew particularly in rural areas virtually no one has a shaved head. However as I moved north to Germany and mainly in big cities Leipzig, Dresde, Berlin and Hamburg the number of shaved heads increased enormously and is very much an accepted 'hair' style. Also in germany many older men (like me) had beards or goatees and quite a few sported earrings.
Wear your bald head with a smail and confidence and you will fit in well.
I live in London, UK.
There are so many shaved head men here, that it's bordering on 'trendy'.
Last Sunday, I went to France for the day and was a bit worried about my passport picture - it was taken nearly 10 years ago. I needed have worried: outward to France, the French authorities just waved me through. On the way back at Calais, I had to pass through UK border control who are notoriously thorough. After scanning and examining my passport, the UK border guard looked and at my picture and joked with my pal "is that the same person ?". Moments later, we were boarding the ferry and heading home.
In short: don't worry and enjoy your sly experience in Europe.
Hello Popper Karl
You say you have recently become a member of the "Buzzed Club". Why don't you become a member of the completely shaven Sly Club?
The funny thing is I don't mind getting weird or negative responses from people, (I have only had one so far) Its crazy I know, I actually like it when some moron makes a negative remark or stares at me...
Hi from Spain, enjoy your sly look. I travel across Europe for 10 days a months or so, you see more and more shaved heads.
Here in the south I wouldn't say it is popular yet, but in the hot summer months you see a lot of guys with at least a very short haircut, if not shaved.
If you shave clean and give it a nice shine as I do, people will still look up at you, but I guess that is cause I'm 6'6 and bald
Enjoy your trip
Karl, you should have no problem.
