Had no choice but to shave by feel

I had been using a hand mirror to see the back of my head when blade shaving. It was awkward using the 2 mirrors, but I finally got the hang of it.
Last weekend we had a major wind storm which knocked out the elecreicity for 2 days. The bathroom had very little light, so I had to shave my entire head by feel. Shaving by feel turned out to be easier and quicker than using a mirror. Got a close shave with no missed spots.
I should have listened to you fellows and tried it sooner.

It's true. I was at a friend's house last week and found myself shaving in the shower without a mirror - and did remarkably well. Interesting experience when you rely just on memory and feel.

A vital skill to learn while shaving the dome is to shave with the one hand and to feel with the other at the same time. Works perfectly for me every time.

Yea when you shave your entire head you really don't need to see the back.
When I used to line/edge the back of my neck I used a mirror to keep the edge straight but now there is no edge.

I shave by feel as well, I still shave at the sink out of habit mainly, so I have the mirror for the top of my head (even though I try not to use it). Australia has just came out of a really long drought and I can't justify spending up to 20 minutes in the shower just to shave my head alone.

FrontierGuy, shaving in the shower is a great idea. I'm going to try it. When shaving at the sink, I leave a huge mess. In the shower, the mess would run down the drain. It would save time also - shower and shave at the same time.

I've been learning to shave in the shower and doing by feel, but even when I'm at the sink, I only shave the back by feel and hold up the mirror to make sure I didn't miss anything. I feel if I had to shave completely with no mirror, I could but it's good to have one just to check for missed spots.

Hi Jimbo: Congrats on doing it by feel. It is the only way head shavers do it.

I've been shaving by feel pretty much since I started. Once you get used to it, shaving goes very quickly.

After reading this thread I was intrigued so I left what I was doing and jumped in the shower and shaved my head freehand no mirror and I can honestly say it was the best shave I've ever had. Thank you.

Pretty amazing, isn't it? My switch to shaving by feel was caused by an extended power outage when I had no choice since the morning light was very dim. Now, it's by feel all the time - and I never miss a spot.

All by feel here, too, except for my face. It's the way I started out.
