I find that using an exfoliating scrub before shaving definitely helps with attaining a smooth shave. I use Gillette Fusion shaving gel and shave with a HeadBlade. As for after shaving, I use witch hazel and finish off with HeadBlade Glossy moisturiser. Sorted. Ten minutes max.

We don't get St Ives products in South Africa. I use Neutrogena Razor Defense face scrub on my head and face before shaving. Then into the shower, where I wash both face and head with oil control facewash. Post shower, it's witch hazel and moisturiser. If I have sustained any nicks, I substitute the witch hazel for good old-fashioned aftershave lotion. Burns like a b!*ch, but stops the bleeding.

Witchhazel does not burn. It does not sting. It's just a nice rinse. Supposed to have astringent properties. I use it daily.

My routine? (I'm a headblade fan).

Shower and was head with the 'head scrub' (exfoliating shampoo).  Ah, feels good. Just gritty enough.
Mix about 1 chick-pea sized bead of 'head slick' plus 4 drops of Shave secret oil. Lather this up with a shaving brush and paint my head. (reserve this to re-apply during shave).

Wait a minute or so after application of headslick.

Shave with Head Blade (touch up if needed with Schick Hydro 5 razor).  Rinse razor frequently. Re-apply head slick with the brush as needed. Feel over the head with wet non-dominant hand to search for missed spots, and shave there again.  I shave in multiple directions over the entire head to ensure a very close/smooth shave.

Rinse shave brush and rinse head. 

Apply witchhazel all over.
Apply Bay Rum aftershave all over.

Let dry.

Apply GLOSSY head blade gel or Aloe Vera gel. May also apply SPF30 if I'm going to be out in the sun.

Apply favorite cologne or after shave for the scent. (I really like Calvin Klein Eternity Summer).

Take a good look in dual mirrors to appreciate the super shiny head shine. 

Dress for the day. Be sure to use a bow tie or appropriate neck wear. Step out into the world with a smile on your face and a bold shaved head.

Is it me, or does anyone else get a 'greasy' feeling when using that stuff? I'd like to have more of a "sheen" some days, but didn't like the way it left my skin feeling.

It's not just you. I'm not a fan of the HeadBlade, or of Glossy.

anyone else can recommend "staple" products in ur head or face shaving regimen?

i will be using this same technique on my neck cause i tend to get ugly reddish bumps there also

As an alternate try aloe vera gel. It is not quite as shiny, but also less greasy feeling.

I have tried them all and I agree "glossy headblade" leaves a funny feeling  (greasy) 

 I use only cold water after shaving and what you see is what I get. - - I  rinse the dome a couple times during the day  and the GLOSSY DOME stays  GLOSSY .
