It's a great look for you. And I know what you mean about the "overhead camera" thing; that helped push me over the edge too.

I took a deep breath, told myself everything would be OK, and then just did it. Doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. One of my friends thinks I look "badass". Still haven't gone out yet; preparing myself for looks and comments (potentially negative).
Can't believe it!
I think the thing that pushed me over the edge was seeing the top of my head from a bird's-eye view over a security camera feed where I work. Even looking badly bald would have to look better than that, I thought!
Finally someone who show us that he actually has a face!

I agree with the others, it's a good look for you.
As for concern over what others may say ... I think you'll be surprised at how little response you get. My observation these days is that people are so preoccupied with their iphones and Facebook and all that they really don't pay much (if any) attention to others around them.
I had the same concern when I got my septum piercing a few years ago. I thought it was so uncommon it would draw attention - and that wasn't the case. And of the very few comments, only one was negative (most of the others were curiosity and a couple were complimentary).
I'll be sly on the 21st - hoping "my look" turns out as good as yours. -
