mate, just looking at your profile pic I can tell the bald look will suit you a lot. I say just go for the shave even with work. you'll have to put up with surprised looks and a comment here and there for the first week at the most. after that you'll feel like a million bucks (just started shaving 2 weeks back myself!)
Thanks for the kind words JSydney, I'm loving the look you're sporting in your profile pic and would be over the moon if mine looks half as good when I finally get the courage to do it.
Just wanted to thank you all again, I've never felt so confident that this is the right thing to do. Guess it's all about deciding when to take the plunge now
Well Jimmy, I'll tell you that the very first time i was examinin my scalp too, moving my fingers here and here ander the hair to find imperfections..
But when the blade will pass, it will take away not just the dying hair, but all the fears too.

Welcome, Jimmy.
I can understand the desire to wait until vacation to shave the dome, but better to do it now so that the scalp can get a little sun before summer sets in.
At any rate, it is clear from what you are posting that you will never be happy until you give the bald look a try so why not go for it now?!

It's Friday. You know what you need to do. Shave your head tonight. You'll have two days to get use to it before you show it off at work on Monday morning.
No need to wait. If you wait, you'll wonder why you waited so long. That's the story of so many guys here on this site.

"I've never felt so confident that this is the right thing to do. "
It's definitely the right thing to do. You've got the perfect head for it, as JSydney has already noted. Above all, you are going into the process with the right attitude and idea. As other posters have noted, the 30 day rule will help you settle into the right routine and regimen for yourself.
And as they say, there is no time like the present to do the deed.
By the way, welcome to the site. Lots of good information and advice here for new shavers.

Hi everyone, thanks again for all the support.
Just a quick notice that I'm going to go for it this Saturday.
I was on a stag do last weekend with a tweed theme, so after a day at the races with a tweed hat on I took it off whilst sat at a bar, exposing my balding head made worse by the head wear. Almost immediately the stag's brother pointed at some meek guy with a comb over on the other side of the bar and shouted "HEY LOOK, TWINS!".
I know the whole point of a stag do is that everyone gets a good teasing but it really emphasized how bad it must look for a young guy to have my hair.
I think I'd much rather be called Kojak from time to time than look like the guy with the comb over!
Anyway just wanted to update you all, for my sake as much as yours. Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it goes.

Best of luck Jimmy. You will do just fine, I bet you will rock the bald look. Post your pic after the deed.
