HeadBlade Triple Problems
« on: March 23, 2012, 12:22:37 AM »
I am sure I have mentioned this before, but I have trouble using HeadBlade Triples.  I have been a fan of the HeadBlade for years.  But for me, I have usually used the double bladed Atra cartridges.  But as costs of the cartridges have gone up, I had successfully used store brand versions of it.  But now I am having a hard time finding generic Atra blades.  So because I didn't want to spend the $16 on the cartridges.  So I went with the BeadBlade brand triples that were about $7.  I had done this before, but ended up cutting my dome.  This happened several times!  So I called HeadBlade and they are going to send me an adapter for the Sensor razor blades.  In fact, I think I have seen some generics for that.  But have any of you had problems with the HeadBlade Triples cutting your dome?

Yes I have but only recently. I actually stopped using the HB about 6 months ago in favor of the M5 because no matter how careful I was or how well I took my time I managed to cut myself. I recently tried using the HB again and ended up cutting myself above and behind the right ear. I washed the dome really well with hot water to soften it up, used Shave Secret, put on the HeadSlick and let it sit for a few minutes and really took my time. Didn't matter, I bled anyway. I wonder if there were any subtle changes made to the triples recently that might contribute to this problem. I always had good luck with the triples in the past, it seems that the last 4 pack or 2 I've experienced more blood loss than I'm used to. I guess I'll go back to the M5.

Only once, and that was in the first week of using the headblade.  No problems since then.  Although occasionally I find one blade does not seem to be as sharp as most. Guess that's manufacturing variation.

Yes.  I have been shaving my head for 20 years and have only cut it about 3 times. I just received my Head Blade
2 weeks ago. and just changed the blade.  When I started the routine I took some skin off.  I waited a few days, just shaving with my Braun razor and went back to the Head Blade this morning with out any problems.  Went alot slower this time.

I use the HB exclusively with triples. I rarely cut myself.

Same here I have nicked myself a few times when using the HB with the triple on top of that the triple does not give me a close of shave. My ritual is to start off using the HB and then finish things up with a Gillete Fusion. Besides the triple what other blades do you guys use with your HB?

I agree with you , i woul like to get the nhang of it but 12 hours of stubble is just not good for the hb , the gillette fusion is a better bit of kit

I've never cut myself with HB Trips but I dislike them for other reasons and generally use Sensor cartridges. The flexibility of the blades give me the best, longest lasting head shave. And the last me a week of daily shaving. O0

This is the trade off which I'm learning too.

Headblade razors are flexible and have not given me any cuts. But they are not quite as smooth. And the sandpaper feel does return within 12 hours or so.  Rather have a slightly less smooth feel - but no cuts.

My experience with HB Triples has been a mixed bag - when I get a good blade I fall in love all over again  :@` But then I get a bad blade and then .....  :x! So yes I love it but I also hate it. In the beginning pre-wheels I cut myself pretty good and swore I would never use it again but since they have added the wheels I have had much better luck. I only cut myself now with the HB due to operator error . ::)

I pretty much do NOT have the problem with the Atra blades.  I fortunately had found some Aftras that I had misplaced.  So back to the smooth shaving routine.  But I may try HB with Sensor blades...especially if I can find generics cheaper.  It is the fact that I can't find generic Atras anymore that I have caused me to try the HB Triples.

Have you found/tried Wilkinson Sword's Atra equivalent? Wal Mart carries them.
