Well I did it! It was definatly a learning experience....Few minor nicks but overall I think I did pretty good for my first time. A couple of questions now that I have done it.
First there a few spots that were tough to make as smooth as the rest and front to back or back to front didn't do the job, any tips?
I didn't expect it to look as "gray" on the sides where I wasn't as thin as the top, will this go away as my head tans or what?
Thanks for the help!

Congratulations on embracing the sly lifestyle. As for the rough spots, feel your scalp, if you run your hands from left to right and feel rough, shave in the same direction - left to right. Being a firs time shaver, go easy on applying pressure on the razor, you will be prone to razor burns and irritation but not to worry, your scalp will toughen up in time Best regards.

Welcome to the free and easy life of the Sly Bald Guys. Your shaving technique will improve rapidly as you learn the unique character of your noggin and find, by trial and error the methods, equipment and supplies that work best for you. The "gray" will subside as you get some tanning--natural of course--on the scalp, but the shadow is always there. Don't fret about it though, only another sly guy would notice anyway. Enjoy the freedom.

Welcome!
This is a great site to be on

I know when I first shaved mine off my scalp felt odd... but you seem to grow into it.. it's the first time that certain bits of skin have been exposed to sunlight/air/rain...
It feels good though, doesn't it?

Congrats the first shave

I'm just past my 30 days, and I can say my saving technique improved DRAMATICALLY in that time. Yours will, too. Today was my first time shaving without 2 mirrors, i.e. using a hand held mirror see the back. This something I thought I'd never do. It came out great.
Also, your skin will begin to "adjust" to you shaving it.
30 days will greatly diminish the "gray" and/or shadow but not completely, if you hair is dark and thick
