ive shaved my head very close 0 guard clippers for 5 years, then for the last 2 years ive been bic'ing it with a disposable razor every day or two.
so now that im off work for 2 weeks for my christmas vacation, im feeling lazy (and curious) as to what it will look like if i let the hair grow for 2 weeks.
its been so long that my hair has either been 0 guard shaved or bic'd that i have no idea how much hair i have left now.
will i have a horeshoe or will it be patchy like a bad lawn. lol
so... im just curious, how long has it been since you all have seen what your head really looks like when you dont shave? has it been years? do you wonder what you would look like if you let your hair grow out now?

I haven't let it get beyond a zero to 1-guard buzz since about 1985.

I'm doing it right now...not by choice(because of surgery), but so far I'm seeing more recession than the last time I let it grow for three weeks in 2009 after a work injury....

I've been shaving for nearly seven months and I'm convinced 1) my hairline has receded a lot, 2) the bald spot on my crown has become bigger, and 3) my hair is growing much slower than it used to. So, I'm not tempted to see what I'd look like if I let it grow out!
On point #3, I first thought it was just that I was getting better at shaving, but then my wife commented that my hair doesn't seem to grow as much. She noticed that even at 10:00 at night, there's very little stubble. Perhaps I'm getting my wish: I said I liked being sly so much that I didn't care if my hair ever grew back!

I let my hair grow for about a week a couple of years ago while travelling in India and my wife said "get rid of that fuzz". It took her a while to get used to the sly look seven years ago but now that look is ME. She does comment that she would prefer a goatee to a full beard!!

Before I started shaving I had hair down to my shoulder blades. It wasn't until I saw a pic of myself showing the distinct lack of hair on the dome that I realized how ridiculous I looked (picture Larry Finkelstein from Dharma and Greg). Baldness being as it is (progressive) I don't imagine I would look a whole lot better today. Hence, I don't let it grow out to see if, somehow, my hair had magically re-grown to where it was when I was 20. I already know the answer to that question.

Not at all interested in getting myself involved with that--no future in it, literally!

kalbo, you look like you have a full head of hair (no male pattern baldness) when it grows out.
ill post a picture of mine in another week or so once it gets a bit longer.

well i could only last 1 week without shaving it.
the main thing i noticed, was that my head felt hotter and not the light clean feeling im used to. Also the balding is in the shape of an hourglass, with the hourglass part being fuzzy thin hairs, very thinned out.
it doesnt look good, ill never let it go that long in between shaves again.

I've done it once when i thought I was going to let it grow LONG after i retired from the Air Force. The last time I sat in a stylist's chair, she spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to cover my monk's spot. My receding hairline hadn't got any less receded. One day it was just plain hot out and I was sweating like a pig and I just plain had enough. Took it off again, never looked back. I may let my hair go for a day or three, but that's about it. That shows me how little hair I have left just fine.

Yes, I have a full head of hair but I prefer to be bald by choice.

I feel heavy and uneasy if I allow my hair to grow out. Being shaved smooth makes me feel sharp and clean and ready to take on the world...hehehe
