new guy did the deed
« on: November 06, 2011, 08:51:33 PM »
HEY EVERYONE.  I AM A NEW BIE.  AFTER 25 YEARS OF WEARING A RUG I FINALLY REMOVED IT TODAY.  I AM J S.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I WENT THROUGH WITH IT TODAY.  I THINK THAT I AM GOING TO LIKE IT.  IT IS A LITTLE
SCARY  AT FIRST.  MY WIFE OF 20 YEARS AND 14 YR OLD SON ARE ALRIGHT WITH MY DECISION.  THEY THINK IT WILL LOOK BETTER ONCE I GET SOME SUN ON THE DOME. BEEN READING ALOT ABOUT OTHERS OF YOU REMOVING YOUR HAIRPIECE.  MY FOLKS WANTED TO KNOW IF I HAD CANCER BECAUSE MY HAIR WAS GONE.  I DON'T...
THEY EVEN WANT TO BUY ANOTHER HAIR PIECE FOR ME.  I POLITELY REFUSED.... I BELIEVE THEY WERE BEING
INSENSITIVE AND SHALLOW.  WE'LL SEE.  TOMORROW AT WORK WILL BE INTERESTING.  WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT GOES...

Congratulations on your decision.  Now for 30 daysand time to get a bit of a tan on the noggin which will no doubt be white after all that time covered up. I am sure there is no way you will ever go back to a rug.

It's a big change, so it's normal to be nervous and apprehensive. Stick with it - you'll get the hang of shaving and come to love the look and feel of a smooth dome. Don't worry about the reaction at work. In a couple days, everything will be back to normal. People adjust very quickly to seeing a bald guy. Your parents will adjust, too. Congrats on taking the step!

it doesn't take long before being shaved becomes you in the eyes of your friends and family.  You lose your self conscious of being sly.

Congrats--welcome to the freedom.  Thirty days and you'll wonder why you ever paid so much for dead rats ;D.

Don't be too hard on your folks, they are attached not only to the "you of today" but also the "you of yesterday."  Give them some time and space to accept the fact that you're making your own decisions.  And, if your Dad is bald and rugged, a patient and easy approach might free him.

Hey JS,

Congratulations on your decision to go completely bald.  It is always the right decision for a balding guy.  Welcome to the board and let us know how things go at work.

Welcome JS.  I know you will learn to love the feeling of being free.  How about that breeze on the noggin?

Congrats ! 😄 Some tinted sunscreen on your head & face will help even out your color until the sun does.

Welcome.  Give yourself and others 30 days to get used to the new look.  You won't regret your decision.
