First of all, this is a great website. I realized that I had thinning hair at the age of 23 (7 yrs ago). I was very upset, and tried everything from rogaine to propecia, and nothing helped. I shaved my head and still couldn't deal with it. I decided to go with HCM. At first, I felt like a new man, I was getting the female attention that I wanted and was not getting when I was shaving my head bald. Up until now, it was very tough for me always wondering if it was noticeable, and was wearing hat most of the time unless I couldn't, i.e. work, or special occasions. Now almost $35,000 later and more mature, I am back to shaving my head. It has been a week now and I am very happy with my decision and wish I had that money back and wasn't so insecure. I do have a few questions though that I hope I can get help...
1)my head is really pale, is tanning a good option or self-tanning lotions?
2)I have a lot of red bumps on my head, I am pretty sure this is do to the "system" from HCM being glued on and pulled off after all these years, any suggestions on good lotions, shaving creams?
3)the shadow, will it go away, or do I have to just live with it?
Thanks for the replies, and I proud to join the brothehood!!!!

Welcome YOSP. Glad you found this great site. Look around and you'll see a bunch of great guys just like you (and at least a couple of very supportive ladies). Your skin will tan, just take it slow and easy. Burns are not so good.

welcome YOSP..congrats on the liberation from the rug!...tanning is a good option just do it in moderation and only enough to get some color..dont get burnt and wear sunblock whenever possible......i just shaved 2 months ago..i have done four 15 min tanning sessons and it looks alot better than snow white..

Kajun thanks bro...I am going to try that...I have never been happier than I am w/o the "CAT" on my head. No more worrying if it is noticeable. Does the tanning hide the shadow?

i can only imagine how happy you are without it...i've never wore a rug but i had a horseshoe for 12 yrs, i always joked about how my baseball cap was my toupee..lol...no a tan wont hide the shadow but it will make it "less noticable" ..the main thing that fights shadow is a close shave every day....dont worry about shadow though..its really no big deal..we all have them in one form or another.

Hey just so you know, HeadBlade makes a sun tan lotion called Head Shade it's an SPF15, and it comes in the form of a spray and is non greasy, also as far as shave cream is concerned they also have HeadSlick a mentholated shave cream, it's not a foam or a gel it's more like a cream, as for your bumps try Clear Head it's a bump stopper, and lastly for the finnish they also make a moisturising cream called Head Lube, it comes in Glossy or Matte. here is a link to their website.

You may not need them all, I was just doing my civic duty, and letting you know they are out there, and I don't know what you use to actually shave your head, but check out their Head Blade Sport razzor and watch the HeadBlade 101 video.
And no I dont work for HeadBlade, but I do have their logo tattooed on the back of my dome.

Oops my bad, I forgot to mention another awsome product from HeadBlade, it's a pre shave called Head Shed. It's an expholiator to help soften your stuble ant to also get rid of dead/dry skin and possible bumps. Just thought I'd let you know. I actually use it before and after my shave, you can't beat the smoooooooth feeling.

Tom don't you get any reaction from using the HeadShed afterwards? I was tempted to use it after shaving so I could start using oil again but was afraid skin would be too sensitive after shaving. I know it seems sensitive to the cold water rinse for sure.
