Hi everybody,
I have been lurking here for a while now. Due to your stories I have finally decided to go sly. 15 years of fighting my genetics is more than enough.
I am just taking baby steps. Had my hair trimmed short, except for the top, which looks like a Mohawk now.

So the next appointment is set up and then it's going to be my first buzz cut ever and from then on, we'll see.
Have a great day guys and gals.

It's time when you see this as a fight. Life's too sweet to mess around and waste time on this. You'll see, the freedom is great.

You have a HUGE group of supporters here to help you. Lets see a pic of the new dome. Take your time, learn where you might have moles or dents, we all have some. Then stick with the 30 day rule!. I ALMOST gave up last week but am on day 17 and loving it.
Understand it WILL be a shock, I'm guessing most people will like it, some won't but don't let that stop you from at least trying the 30 day rule. IT's YOUR head. let it SHINE!.
Hope to see a brand new photo of a new sly to the club.

Thanks for the friendly welcome.
Yesterday I went to my barber and had my first buzz cut ever.
So step 2 is done.
And as many have said it before, it was mainly a non-event. Well after the initial shock. Nobody laughed or pointed ther finger at me.
Not sure about the confidence thing, though.

I think that in the battle between man and nature nature always wins. Same with baldness. We can fight it all we want and we WILL lose. However, when we decide to let nature take its course and we follow along on the path we find that we can all co-exist. And at that point it becomes a stress reliever rather than a stress inducer.
Enjoy the smooth dome. Welcome to the crew.

And when you finally shave it clean, that too will be a non-event.
The truth of the matter is -- with all due respect -- you don't have much hair left anyway, according to your avatar photo. Shaving off what's left is not going to be a drastic change as far as the rest of the world is concerned. There is a psychological barrier between going from hair -- even if it is just a very little bit -- to no hair, that needs to be overcome. But once you get past that, the rest is a breeze.
Not sure about the confidence thing, though.
That will come. In the meantime, hold your head high and fake it.

You mention the lack of confidence, this will come in time. As we say give it 30 days. Once you get use to the new look the confidence comes with it.

Luke, you look good with the buzz cut. It's not far from that to sly. Sly will look good too. Your choice.
A buddy recently shaved his head. His wife loves it. He's been shaving his head daily since then. My wife fusses about my short hair. She's not ready for me to go bald. She thinks I'm bald already (by choice).

Welcome Luke, take it down the rest of the way with a blade, you're going to love it and wish you had sooner.
