Roku streaming players
« on: June 26, 2011, 01:26:09 PM »
Does anybody have one of these devices?  I'm thinking about getting one.  I buy a lot of bargain-priced DVDs of older movies, but I'm thinking this might be a more economical way of watching things that I don't necessarily need a permanent copy of in my library.

Also, can anyone recommend a good wireless router, since I don't currently have one?

Thanks.

As far as the wireless router goes we have used a Linksys for the last couple of years. It served us well with satellite and continues to do a good job now that we have switched to cable.

I'm not familiar with this player, in fact, after reading their page I'm not quite sure what it is. Am I computer savvy or what?

Razor,

In regards to routers, I only buy Buffalo Routers.  This is the one I recommend - http://t.co/zvSqBiI

As for Roku, do you have a Blu-ray player yet?  If so, it should do most everything that a Roku does.  If you don't have a Blu-ray player, buy a PS3 and then you'll be set.

I do have a Blu-ray player but I don't think I can stream with it.  The newer Samsung models are made to stream from Netflix, but mine's about three years old.
