Hey guys,
In an attempt to shave my head, I've cut myself................ A LOT. I'm experiencing tons of bumps all over my head, which were bleeding. I've shaved the majority of my head, but there are still small patches of uncut hair - I needed to take off the shaving cream, as it was making the cuts sting. My whole head is stinging.. how do I treat these cuts? And what is the cause of the bumps? They're covering my whole head... I'm going to wait until my head heals and go onwards from there. Oh, and what should I do about a small patch of really close-shaved hair? The rest is strongly outlined.

Edit: Sorry if this is placed in the wrong section. A combination of dizziness from bleeding and tiredness is making me delusional... lol.
At this point I would go ahead and finish the job. Just lather up the patches that need shaving still and go at them. Once everything is more or less shaved, try some witch hazel if you have some. If not, soap and water at the least to wash ur whole head again and get everything clean. If the cuts are still bleeding, u could try a styptic pencil but that can sting a bit too. I sometimes try a dab of vaseline on a cut but i also watch way too many UFC fights.

I saw another post where someone mentioned aguaphor as being good for cuts. I haven't tried it myself but it does work wonders on rashes and irritation so I bet it could help.
Keeping everything cleaned up, i am willing to bet you see those bumps clear up in no time.

Thanks. I applied Polysporin to my whole head before going to sleep. I'm going to go ahead and shave the remaining patches of long hair and leave the rest alone, although the hair has seem to grown quite a lot overnight.
Did you prep your head correctly with a good scrub and hot shower before shaving your
head?
You have to use a good shaving gel... and a GOOD razor. You didn't mention what you used. But a cheap razor will rip your skin apart. For me, the gels work 100 tiles better then the creams, and a good m5 or a Gillete 3 blade is good. IF your head is not use to it, first buzz it on a 0, then shave.
Unfortunately, I shaved my head without preparing my head. I just shaved after a hot shower and although I did cut myself a few times, it was an overall easier shave.
And I guess I need better razors. I was using no-name disposable razors and Gillette shaving gel. I'm thinking about buying the HeadBlade Sport. How does the HeadBlade make shaving easier? And could someone recommend cheap, good quality blades for the HeadBlade?

You've answered the problem. Although a lot of guys really swear by the headblade, they can be tricky to master. Consider a more forgiving tool like the Fusion. Although the blades are expensive, they are very easy to use and I have yet to hear about a really nasty cut. Once you've mastered the basics of shaving you can move on to the Headblade to see if it works for you. For me, I never could get anything like the shave from a Fusion or the Personna M5--
Next, get some good shaving creme--here, IMO, Headslick is the standard. Apply it with a brush( about $6-7) and some Shave Secret as an undercoat. And, importantly, take your time--it's not a race.

The HB makes things easier because it changes the shaving motion itself. Take a moment to run your hand over your head from front to back; you just did a demonstration of the HeadBlade shaving motion. It also does a better job of keeping the blades at the right angle to the scalp, which virtually eliminates cuts.
As for blades, the HB takes any Atra or Sensor-compatable cartridges. I would start by trying out the HB Triple Blade that comes with it, which is Atra-based. If that doesn't feel right, you can always get a small pack of Sensor Excel or Sensor3 blades and try those.
Now, the most used phrase when it comes to head shaving, other than Bald is Beautiful, is that Your Results May Vary. Every head is different, so what works for one person might not work the exact way for you. All we can do is tell you what each of us uses, then tell you to try out what you think will work. I'm a Sensor HB guy myself, but that's just because Sensor Excel blades have always worked well on my skin and hair type.
Thanks everyone for the info - it really helps.
I bought Gillette shaving gel and a Gillette Fusion Power. My plan is to apply the shaving gel, shave with the grain, re-apply the shaving gel, and shave against the grain. Is this a good idea?
How hard should I press the razor against my scalp? I've only used, let alone held, a razor two times in my entire life... This is absolutely new, so sorry if my questions seem stupid.

My hair has already grown a lot already... I can't shave until all my cuts are healed - they're covering my whole head!

I plan on purchasing the Head Blade after I've mastered the Power.
I'll be using a Power for now since I've already purchased one.
