Gillette
« on: June 09, 2011, 07:03:50 AM »
Where is Gillette taking us. Are they slowly moving us toward 20$ for a 4 count cartridge refill. I resent the fact that the four count refill is currently $15.79. That's nearly four dollars a razor (Ridiculous) >:(. I was a long time user of the sensor track. The 10 count cost 15.79 or about $1.57 per razor. The price of a Fusion pro glide is a mark up of nearly 300% compared to the sensor  :o. Is the Technology that much better? How long can I shave with one of those refills (1 week or 2)?  >:(

I see the writing on the wall, Gillette is going for a 20 to $25.00 price tag for refills on their next line of razors. On that day I will start shaving with my butter knife  :-\

At the moment, Ming is only semi-Sly, and with a #1 buzz he continues to shave the lower regions (head regions, that is) with his often-mentioned old-fashioned (ancient) injector single-blade razor, which also is for the dome when the mood strikes.  These blades (a supply bought a couple of years ago in anticipation of their ultimate non-production) ran about 35 cents apiece...  My thrifty self smiles at the extortionate prices I read fellow Sly complaining of.  But some day I'll run out of my blades and then I may begin to whine be vexed too.

And perhaps I'm just pain-tolerant, but the current blade has been in the razor for a month and still produces an acceptable shave.  On the other hand, my beard is not thick and coarse, although it's not patchy, either.  I drench the blade, post-use with 91% rubbing alcohol, following some advice given here and there on the forum for lengthening blade life.  Don't know if that's an "urban legend," but, still... a month!

And for another take on shaving and a possible new beard style:

Cochise....... check out the Personna M5 Magnum:

http://www.personna.com/personna/blades/shaving/detail/m5-magnum-for-men/

This is a great razor and a pack of 4 cartridges is $6. The shave is amazing and you'll have enough money left for a few cold beers.

I'm with Koz on this. To prove that the M5 truly does stand head and shoulders above the rest I heard that Gillette and other big boys put the pressure on WallyWorld to rid the shaving world of this demon. Thus the M5 can no longer be found at Wally's. The Dollar Store carries them (2-packs) but they're even cheaper ordering them online from Personna.
