Sounds like you may have to bite the bullet and call Microsoft Tech Support.
but this gets even odder. right now I'm at a neighbor's with my laptop attached to her network. I have access to the site with no trouble - so it's not my windows. It has to be soem sort of issue with Verizon FIOS that I use as my ISP. They swear it's not them (soken with them at length already) but it has to be. I've eliminated all the other possibilities that I can see and if it's working on someone else's internet then it has to be my net connection that's the problem.......
Another 90 minute phone call wiith Verizon FIOS.....and finally a tech who listened to what I have done and who had some useful things to try. He had me go out to the dos prompt and run "tracert
www.infodog.com"
What came back was all the various servers my signal switched through on its way to
www.infodog.com (has to do with AKC show registrations). The signal clearly ran into a problem once it got outside of my home network and to the 3rd verizon switching station.
Problem is not fixed but I now know it is not anything that's wrong with my laptop or wireless network.
This is just my latest problem with FIOS. I've had the service since October and there has never been a period of 4 weeks without interrupted service. There was a period where it was out almost daily. They've replaced the interface box twice, reset it numerous times and I'm on the 3rd router..... Every person I have dealt with has been very polite and tried to be helpful but every call requires me to repeat the entire history of troubles and it gets frustrating. If anyone has an ongoing problem with them you need to know that you can tell them to ALWAYS route your call to a US help desk. Overseas help desks are fine in some settings but after awhile the language issues just make a bad situation worse.
After today's troubles I called billing and said "adjust the bill in a serious way or I'll cancel - 2 year promo contract can go to he77"
Just a note here............ ALWAYS request an in the USA help line. It's just one more way to keep AMericans working.
I've lost track of the number of phone calls to Verizon/FIOS and the hours on the phone... this has gotten to be way beyond absurd. Everyone I've spoken wiht swears they'll have someone call me back that same day and no one has called yet.
In the days of the phone monopoly they could get away with "we're the phone company, we don't have to care..." but those days are over.
Sounds like it's time to drop kick old Verizon out of the park.
Tech was here for close to 2 hours this afternoon. Funny thing was he repeated the saem things I had already done to the same results...and got the saemrun around from the engineering people. This time some bright bulb in the bunch decided the router had to be switched since the one I had was a recetn switch for another one that stopped boradcasting a wireless signal. This unknown person had the audacity to say that it had to be the router and that it must have always been defective and I never was able to access the blasted site.....Odd I did showentries on it a bit over 2 weeks ago...which was after the new router was put in.
So the tech has gone away and the problem continues.....
No idea how or why ==but it's working, FINALLY. Not sure if it cleared itself or the phone company did something because, of course, they still haven't called back.......
