Has anyone bought a decent shaving mug and brush set recently in one of the national retailers? Or via mail order? Seems as if the mug/brush process is the best way to whip up a good lather. I've noodled around the web a bit and what I keep coming up with are the real high end badger brushes. Will likely go that route but want to give it a shot with lower end gear to begin with. And I'm thinking a plastic mug would be great since I'm a shower guy.
When I first went sly figured I was going to end up with more space on the shelf in the shower when the shampoo and conditioner got tossed.....with the various shaving gear/products I'm thinking about where to put up another shelf...
WalMart carries brushes and mug soap..... I'm not sure about the mugs though. Don't spend a lot of money on a brush. I have a WalMart special and it works just fine. I've had it for well over a year now and it still works great.

Second that, brush was about $7, and I use HS on the brush--wet--then a little glycerin, then work up the lather straight on my noggin--works great. Also, I find there's enough lather left in the brush for a second pass for that extra smooth dome.
I found a brush in my Grandma's basement, but a WalMart one is just as good. As for the vessel, I use a giant ceramic soup bowl that I found at my local grocery store. It gives me plenty of room to work the HeadSlick into a good lather.
I've got my grandfather's mug - it's heavy rubber and from the 1930's. I use if for razors, toothbrush, etc.
