Hey,

I'm from scotland have been considering shaving my head for a number of years now but I have a full head of thick hair and am worried about the reactions I would get especially in Scotland considering i'm only 22? anyone else feel the same?

What reactions have people recieved?

It's been a long time since Ming was 22, and Ming has never been in Scotland, so he has nothing to say on your points, but I doubt if the Scots are any different in attitudes (mutatis mutandis) than Yanks are as to heads haired or bared.

So, Ming says, "Do what you want."  As to head shaving with a full head of hair--it's not a tattoo.  If you don't like it, it grows back (two months hiding in the Hebrides should do it), and if you are fated for MPB in the fullness of time, well, you can say, "Been there, done that, no problem," when you go Sly for the rest of your life.

Hey, Jeff_ers !

Just go for it man...... You'll love the experience & the feeling. Just remember to wear a hat in the wintertime.
i don't expect that you will get any negative reactions.

Becoming bald by choice is a great decision & seperates the men from the boys.

Hey,

I'm from North East, Scotland. Just have a look around there are a few baldies out there. Maybe not so many sly guys in our 20s. I'm 28 and only recently went sly for the first time at 27 in September.

I had mostly positive reviews from People. I too was a bit sceptical at first as I have dark dark hair but quite pale skin and thought I'd look like Uncle Fester or something as I've got big dark eyebrows too, but most people just said "it brings out your eyes" more than commentating on my brows. I have been using a tinter moisteruiser though as you will know how cold and grey our Winters can be and it gives you a nice natural glow.. Don't over use it though, you'll end up like a tangoman but I use it once every 3 days or so and it keeps you ticking over a nice natural colour for other the Winter months.

It's a huge change and I know how you feel. The question I got was "Why did you shave your head?" so try and find a funny or answer you are happy with.

Honestly, after a week at the very most - People will have seen and it is already old news.

Good luck and let us all know how you get on.

cut my hair down to a much shorter style and i think im going to take it in stages rather than all at once! now that the weather is warming up i must admit i am seeing more bald guys around but not seen many young guys sporting the look and this is still something that worries me about if i decide to shave it off! maybe if i go away on holiday this summer i could do it and get a tan on the old head at the same time (no chance of tanning it up in scotland :P)

Go ahead and shave your head if that is a look that you are contemplating. I don't see why people would give you a hard time. You will probably get questions from people you know (family, friends and colleagues). Just say you wanted to try a new haircut. For all the other people, well, they have never seen you before with a full head of hair, so they should not make any comment. In any case, enjoy being bald and let us know how things go.
