AAUGH!! Weekend Getaway and Razor Kit Left At Home!!
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:11:32 PM »
Spending MLK weekend here in Biloxi with the wife and kids.

My wife was rushing me outta the house so fast, I didn't realize I had forgotton my shaving kit until we were a little more than halfway to our destination!

LOL - My SLY INSTINCT told me I should turn around and go back home to get my shaving bag. My better judgment (especially since I was outnumbered 3 to 1) told me to press onward...naturally, my "better judgment" had better odds of me surviving the remainder of the journey unscathed (LOL).

Anyway, arrived here@ Beau Rivage Casino, and in one of the nearby drug stores on the strip, I noticed there was a $ale on the Schick Quattro Titanium 4-Blade Razor (with trimmer)

Never used this razor before so I didn't really know what I was buying, but I figured SOMETHING was BETTER than NOTHING...

When I was showering in the hotel room, I decided to try it out and see what kind of results I was gonna' get. (I half expected I was going to come out of this with more cuts than the Obama Administration made in the last six months! (LOL)

Well, I have to tell you guys - I was beside myself with the superb shave I got from this razor. The razor handle is larger than that of a standard razor, allowing a better grip and more control, without it feeling awkard in your hand, despite its size.

It seems as if extra safety measures were incorporated into the pivoting head so as to prevent you from nicking and cutting yourself, while giving you a verrrrrrry close shave. I did not get a chance to investigate the cost of the replacement blades, but overall, I give the Schick Quattro Titanium 4 a "big thumbs up" for both design and performance.

Any SBG member (new or veteran) who may be looking for a new "weapon of choice", or for those of you who are new to the sly scene and looking for an excellent razor (IMHO), at an EXTREMELY REASONABLE PRICE, this may be just the razor for you! (razor cost is around $10)

Check it out in your local Wal-Mart, K-Mart. CVS, etc. I think you'll really like this recommendation.

Note: To further illustrate the type of closeness this razor delivers, check out the male model's head on the Bald Guyz banner ad on SBG. Results from the Schick are like that on the model.

Thanks for the review--now that my M5 days are numbered it may be another way to respond.  Last week I went to the home office in upstate NY and I had just climbed into bed after unpacking and I realized I had packed everything but my razor!  I had the shaving soap, brush, etc., just no razor.  So I considered my alternatives, no shave the next morning and just go into the office with stubble, get a disposable from the front desk, or find a drugstore that opened early to solve the problem.  What I failed to consider was turning lemons into lemonade like you.  Lesson learned.  Oh, I got up early, and in 4 degree weather went to a store that opened at 7a--and bought a Fusion.   >:(

Bah, forget those table games and gambling Noodles.  Go find a seat at the $1/2 no limit hold em tables in the poker room in the Beau Rivage or Hard Rock and prepare to make $25-50/hr EASY.  The bad thing about the poker tables at the Beau is they charge time rake ($6/30 min) instead of a pot percentage rake, so you're basically paying $12/hr to play.  This provides for good table conditions though as everyone is playing loose and (mostly) passively.

Sit back, wait for good cards, have yourself a few Crown and gingers, and profit.  8)

Schick Quattro Titanium 4 Photo Results
« Reply #8 on: January 19, 2011, 09:22:28 PM »
Guys,

Earlier in this thread, I described how I got a wonderful, verrrrrry close shave using the Schick Quattro Titanium 4 Razor.
Below are the photo results using this razor.

Once again, this was my very first time using this razor, and, for that reason, I really didn't know what to expect. But as you can see, the results seem to be quite impressive.

In the photos below, I used Edge Shaving Gel, combined with a few drops of Shave Secret.

Normally, I have quite a noticeable shadow, but using this razor had even seemed to lessen that fact to a bare minimum!
I think this one is a keeper!!  O0

Very cool. And Smooth. Just out of curiosity how much did the razor cost you? I have the Gilette Fusion Proglide and the replacement razors are almost $16. Is yours cheaper?

Big Jon,

I just happen to catch 'em on sale at a mom and pop type store in Biloxi for around $7 for the razor itself, including one cartridge (the one attached to the razor). In most packaging, there is at least one additional cartridge, but in this case, most likely because of the beard/moustache trimmer incorporated into the handle, you only get one.

When back home, I noticed CVS has the razors for around $10-$11. I still haven't checked the price on cartridge refills as of yet!!

...But I simply love the "bone close" results!!

noodles, you did not mention which razor you normaly use :@` :@` :@`

For the last few months, I have been using the Mach III, but I find that there is much less of a chance of me nicking my scalp using the Schick.

Before that, it was the HeadBlade.

But I admit, I am a sucker for trying new products on the market. Over the 2+ years since I've gone SLY, I've tried a number of different razors,- of which there is a handful that has "their place" in my "shaving world" where I may return to any one of those particular razors every so often.

But I really like the end results that I get from the Schick above everything else in my "arsenal of weapons".

I do like the extreme closeness of razors like the HB, Mach, and the Fusion, but no matter how detailed I was in both the pre-prep and after care, I always seemed to walk away at the end with a bit of irritation or a nick or two...sometimes three....sometimes I'd call ahead and have an EMS unit on stand-by (just in case) - LOL

The results I get using the Schick leaves me with just a hint of a shadow, but it is so extremely light and yet, super smooth to the touch at the same time that the issue of a light shadow isn't even an issue anymore.

I believe the issues I was having pertaining to the other razors was that I was trying too hard to be "completely shadow-free" and that was, in turn, causing me problems.

But we all have to experiment and find our individual "happy place" in the SLY world, and I realize that the results I am experiencing with the Schick may not be the exact results someone else may get, but if my experience can help someone discover a better shaving experience for themselves, then sharing this info with you guys makes it all worthwhile.

After all, we are all here to help one another get the best shave possible according to our own individual desires and needs, and if by chance my recommendation can help even just one SBG member, then all is good in the SLY world. O0

Enjoy your weeked guys!!
