I shave against and with the grain. I'm also kind of partial to the Gillete slide while going against the grain (not for a newbie to try). It seems to get alot closer than just plain against.

Try different angles.... On spots that irritate too much going against... I try changing the angle hitting it at a maybe at 45' or less, then working it up to the 90' straight against the grain. I don't shave the back ATG find it's just to sensitive ,sides Xtg , top ATG , works for me.

I shave against the grain, my head feels better afterwards, but I do get irritation.

2 passes at shaving each day - with the grain, then against. Get a little bit of irritation from time to time, but nothing too bad.

I've seen those videos on the face shaving sites before. IMO he sure makes a big deal about a simple face shave. Like Ming says ''shaving isn't rocket science''.

I shave my entire head ATG every time. Never get any irritation because of it, for which I consider myself lucky, because if I shave ATG anywhere on my neck, I get ingrown hairs and irritation like you wouldn't believe.
I love the feeling of a smooth dome atop my head! -

Well normally I shave ATG, but I just looked at the back of my head and there are tons of red spots. I knew I had some irritation because I would get bumps that were like pimples sometimes, but man its a lot worse than I thought.

I shave against the grain too. It makes it smoother and shinier too.
