I shaved my head regularly for 2 years. Then I stopped and grew it out. It wasn't because I missed my hair though. Sometimes a little change is good. Now that I'm back on the bandwagon of shaving, I don't see myself going back to having hair. I think once you see pictures of yourself with crappy hair....why would you want to go back. My hair is silvery gray. gray hair takes on a different texture. Hairline is receding. Ugh. it's a relief not having it.

yeah i understand i wont be able to grow back a full head of hair but I still do miss it. I guess im just having a hard time dealing with the fact im going to be bald probably the rest of my life
That was going to happen no matter what you did, you just went from balding to bald. Believe me that going bald is easy to solve--be bald--there are other parts of the process of maturation that are not so easy.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, join a gym and start lifting weights. The confidence you gain from increasing your physical strength more than offsets any nagging doubts you have about your bald head. It's part of the reinvention process, of which shaving your head is just the first step.

Sure I miss my hair. And I wish I could change my look (hairwise) like none sly dudes. But being MPB, can't change it, despise the H'Shoe. We can't OCD 'bout it all the time. Only we can accessorize with bandanas and hats, and change bodily appearance with exercise or with facial hair. It's one of many lots I have in my life bro. At least I have company with this lot. Peace.

You could say I sort of miss my hair, but not for shaving it. I lost it due to MPB, as far as I'm concerned.
Nothing is worse than horseshoes (public toilet seats!) or *gasp* combovers.
So it's not even an option for me, IMO. I'd much rather be sly than "in-between"; you should either have a full head of hair, or none, as I see it. If you don't have (full) hair on top, you don't really have hair anyway. The stuff on the sides and back don't count, really - you're still considered "bald", right?
So.. no big deal to go sly from there. It looks better and puts you back in control somewhat.
Mine was leaving me naturally too, so I said to it, "Don't let the door hit ya in the ass" and got rid of the rest of it.

I don't really miss my hair all that much. It wasn't anything spectacular in the first place. It WAS really soft; I have fine hair.
My balding, a Norwood 5A, is pretty advanced for my age (24) and I actually think growing it out to a tight buzz is a distinguished look. I haven't shaved in about 5 days and it's getting close to a #1 buzz. I haven't grown it out since shaving for the first time, which was around this time last year. If I could grow out my head and facial hair to a Jason Statham-esque look I'd be pretty stoked.
Don't get me wrong; I love the sly look and the smooth feel and the whole ritual of shaving. It's just nice to be able to grow it out once in a while into a look I can enjoy and not loathe. I mean, everyone knows why I shave my head anyway. I guess after having been sly for so long I'm coming to accept the MPB look as well.

I have been improving my image overall Ive lost about 25 pounds, and I continue to lose weight. I dont have a bad self image I'm pretty happy with how I look right now. I just do miss having hair SOMETIMES, don't get me wrong I love the bald look on me, I guess this post was kind of pointless but I haven't been around for a while and I guess I like to shake things up a bit

Hey, good work on the weight issue Morthen. It's tough, and you're tougher getting on top of it. Hair, it's just hair. Excess weight--it's a killer--literally. Good work. Keep it up.

Ya I miss my hair sometimes its been almost 3 months since going sly and alot of times when I think of myself I still wierdly picture me with hair. At first I didn't really like shaved head but as I've started to bulk up at the gym I think the look suits me good.

I have never missed my hair. I have accepted that it is not coming back so any thoughts of remorse or longing for it have never been an option. I love being sly bald. If there was a safe cure for MPB I don't think I would choose it, I have chosen sly bald...for life!!!

I want to add, I sure don't miss worrying about rain, swimming, wind, strong backlighting or overhead lighting, or a million other things that would reveal how thin my hair truly was. Toppik will only take you so far.
Besides, people will usually look you more directly in the eyes if bad hair isn't distracting them.
I dunno, I've been told I have a nice shaped head for this, and a decent face (not just you guys here in the forum but in "real" life too), so it's not too hard for me; I imagine if you felt your own looks were lacking, you might have second thoughts. Then again, who knows? I never thought of my face as much, and I was totally surprised by the cool shape of my skull. I like!
Besides, nothing looks worse than bad hair. Just remember that. Having bad hair just for the sake of having some hair is an awful idea.
