Bought my first HeadBlade Sport
« on: July 13, 2010, 07:03:32 PM »
I was going to wait till I had finished the 30 day rule and get a HeadBlade Sport to celebrate it, but I couldn't wait!

I have been reading all the positive feedback and spent quite a bit of time watching youtube videos on the HeadBlade, as well as reading up on it at their site, and I couldn't wait for the 30 day rule to end. Tomorrow marks a week since I first shaved and the first day that I shave the dome with the HeadBlade Sport. I'm looking forward to using it.

I know that there is some mixed reviews on it and I have also read that it is gimmicky, but I have also read about guys that won't shave without it. I'm hoping that my experience is as positive as that of those who really like it

Let us know how it went!

I've warmed up to my HB Sport a little more since my trip to Biloxi last week.  I just bought an M5 (switching from Fusion's ridiculously priced carts) and was shaving when I dropped it not once or twice, but three times!  Each time I dropped it I broke a cartridge!!  :Xo!

So I was out of M5 carts for the moment so I whipped out the HB that I brought on a whim (better to overpack than underpack for a trip).  In my experience it had always been too awkward to shave against the grain with the HB, but if I'm not shaving ATG I may as well not shave that day.  It took some awkward maneuvering and many passes, but I did get a smooth shave from it finally.

My HB sits in the closet for now until there is an adapter for the Schick Hydro Blades.

Yep...I'm hooked on the second most expensive blade out there.   b!n&

Remember to take it slow with that new HB the first few shaves. No pressure until you master it or you will get cut and maybe badly.

I love my HB!! Three weeks ago I was away on a golf trip...... and when I got home I realized that I had left my HB behind. It was the original HB my wife bought me when I started shaving my head three years ago.
There was a distinct sadness at the loss but I immediately went out and bought another. I tried shaving my head with my M5 but it was very awkward!!

HB Sport with the Matchbox wheels is cut city for me. With the reduced drag, attributable to the wheels, I get it moving faster than the Classic so when I cut myself I REALLY CUT MYSELF. So I'm back to the Classic and the Ghost, I gave my wife the Sport to post on ebay.

Love mine!!!!  Have yet to cut myself and I dont find it awkward at all.  I am a bit ambidextrous (sp?)  so maybe that helps.  That and some Headblade slick works wonders for me........hope you like it.  O0

I've been using the HB Sport for quite some time and I have yet to cut myself. I love it!! I never shave against the grain with it and use very little pressure on the blades.

I love the HeadBlade and use it everyday!  The only time, and it was 2 years ago, I cut myself was when I was too compulsive trying to get perfectly smooth with a dull blade.  O0

I honestly don't think I would be a daily shaver without my HB.  I can do it in just minutes with excellent results, and I go with and against the grain.  I don't even recall it being difficult going against the grain.  But maybe I'm an exception.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Well my first experience with the Headblade Sport was positive and I got a very good close shave going ATG only. I really took my time with it and I think when I get used to using both hands to shave with it it will be even better.

Some areas that I hit are smoother than any of my other 8 shaves. I think the guy in this video has on of the best demos on using the Headblade, so I tried to emulate his technique.

He has an interesting technique... I shave a little differently.  First, I shave in the shower.  Second, I lather up my entire scalp and I rinse the blade every two to three strokes.
I never learned to use my non dominant hand so like this video, I shave entirely using my right hand.  No amputations that way!  :*))

Shaving in the shower makes more sense, not sure if he shaved at the sink because it is easier to record on video, or if that is his prefers the sink.

I am totally a newbie at the head shaving, I have only shaved with the Headblade once, so I think training myself to use both hands should go easy. The Headblade training video in their site demos switching hands, but I doubt I would try switching hands if I was already used to using just my dominate hand. I know it would be very difficult for me to shave with a traditional razor using both hands.

You are dead on about him not rinsing the blade often enough and not lathering up enough.

No Thanks - I would cut the sh*t out of my head with that thing!!  I always have shaved my face with a blade razor so I know how much pressure to put on - that thing looks like it will peel your head like a potato!
