Indeed.  I've about a five-year supply of the blades I use. I suppose I should buy some more while they are still available, 'cause it makes no sense for a manufacturer to produce ones that sell for a pittance when ones that break a five apiece can be peddled.  My cost?  Standard Brand: 60 cents each; Store Brand: 40 cents each.  I can get two or three weeks out of a blade (my hair is relatively fine).  When they do disappear from my pharmacy shelves, I don't know what I'll do.  Maybe a sharpened clamshell.

I've said this here more than once.  Shaving technology is actually very simple, at least in my bathroom.  Stainless, single-edged injector blade, cheap Barbasol shaving cream...and the job gets done with no angst over "Jesus! This blade is expensive," or "I wonder if a four-blade razor would be better?" [No]

Yes, I guess I am a fogey.  One of those "penny saved" cheapos.  But I've no angst over my bank statements, either.  Word to the wise...

I agree with you , Ming.   A few pennies saved today probably means a few dollars to have, and enjoy later.   I for one, really hated to see that two blade CVS knockoff go away.  About 41 cents each, and worked well in the HB and Vector.   BUT  you can still find them for about that on eBay now and then.  A nice person from Ohio had a two (2) twenty (20) pack on eBay not long ago, that came to 41 cents each, including the shipping cost.  I'm sure there will be more.
Can you guess who bought them?

Lump me in with the cheap-o set.
I bought 100 Sensor Excel blades on Ebay sometime ago. I use those for my regular razor and atra generics for my headblade.

I just can't grasp the cost of blades these days for the supposedly better coverage.

The atra generics work great. I usually shave daily and they last 10 days, give or take.

I have great luck with the Atra knock-offs too for my HB.  Once in a great while, I get a bad one, but hey, I just throw it away and grab another.  They're cheap.  The ones I use are the Personna brand.

Good post and accompanying article Schroman. I'm with Ming and cvasara on this one.
I use the generic Atra knock offs as well, and they work just fine for me. Use them on both my HeadBlade and my Atra razor.
I went and bought the Proglide fusion to give it a shot, but haven't used it yet. (that's another story).  I rarely use the old fusion I have and I strongly doubt I will be using the proglide very much, if at all. The prices of replacement cartridges are ridiculous!.
I see no reason for so many blades when two can do just as good a job.   :/O

Sorry Gillette, but maybe you can go back and focus on making new razors that will accept a double blade, or even an updated single blade! How about that for progress?

The atra generics work great. I usually shave daily and they last 10 days, give or take.

Thanks for the input. I am all about saving on the price cash. I will try the CVS M3, the Atra generics, and the Gillette Sensor 3 in hopes of finding my favorite Headblade companion cartridge.
