Hi Mike and welcome aboard the SBG Boat of Happiness !
I'd say quite a few of us here kept thinking "geez, my hair is getting thin but it still looks nice" until you start looking at pics or vids of yourself. Then reality strikes like a bald bolt of lightening ! Maybe you should ask your barber if a buzzcut is a good way to for you and everyone to adjust that the hair is going. Then when you feel confident (and you will), perhaps the razor will be the answer.
As far as your wife ... do you have much say as to how often she changes hair styles or colors (or how much she spends on her hair) ?
Glad you joined and keep us posted ! ----Stasiu[/color]

There really is a ton of support here. This seems like a tight group.
My wife is actually very supportive of whatever I choose. She says that it's not bad enough to shave because she probably thinks that is what I want to hear. I told her last night that I was seriously considering going ahead and doing it and she said "go for it, we have a vacation coming up, do it then."
I will probably have my barber bring it down to a #1 to let a little light through to start tanning my head. The vaca is for 1 week and it starts in 1 month. that should be enough time to get a little bit of a tan started. We'll see.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

If your hair really bothers you enough to post here usually that means you're at least curious about going sly. Try taking it down to a close guard buzz and if you like it, shave your head with some gel and a razor. Worst case scenario your hair will grow back, but you don't want to spend forever wondering what it would look like. I did that for almost a year and it was just a weight of stress on my shoulders.

Welcome Mike. The guys have said it all. If you're curious about shaving, then the only way to know if you'll really like it is to just go ahead and do it. The fella's and I happen to believe you will like it.
It sounds like the wife has put it in your hands as well, so at least you have some indication of her being okay with it.
Go for it while on vacation, I bet you'll wish you did it sooner!

ps- be sure to use sunscreen!

From one Mike to another, shave it smooth. You have the right face for it and you will look much better and younger instead of older and average.

Joinin' in a little late, but from one Mike to another... welcome. I chose the buzzing down with no guard for what I assumed would be a while, but then a few days into it, I was in the shower and bam...did the deed. I think you'll enjoy it...summer is the best time. No one seems to care in the summer... afterall, ya gotta stay cool right?

Welcome and enjoy, man.

Well, my first step was to take it all down and start letting a little sunlight through. Last night I had a few drinks and told my brother to go ahead cut it short. This is the shortest my hair has ever been. I thought that it would take some time to get used too, but I didn't care at all. Everyone that was around while it was being trimmed said that they thought it looked good.
So now I plan to let the scalp get some tanning going and then take it shorter or off completely.

Promise, shows lots of promise. You've got the first steps done, and when the urge to finish hits, yield. You're ready.
