The Black and Tan with Bass is an awesome "drink" and one of my favorite ways to enjoy a REAL beer. And the way Kahuna described the "pour" is EXACTLY correct.

Any of our UK brothers or Continental brothers drink shandies or Berliner Weiße? I've had Berliner Weiße years ago when I was in Germany--before unification--and it was good, not something for everyday, but a nice cooler. Shandies are pretty good too on occasion, iMO.
I discovered shandies late this Summer. I nice change of pace and very refreshing. I wouldn't drink them all evening but one or two is nice.

Sorry Plano I just jumped right into this topic and didn't read all the post on the other pages.
No problem, brother! Just thought people may have missed the video portion of the "Black and Tan"

I stick to Heineken or Abita Amber or light. Some of the Sam Adams are good. Tried Guiness and didn;t care for it,. Maybe the person pouring wasnt certifed.
Dont like blue moon. Havent really tried any of the flavored beers. One day guess I will have to give it a try.
Shock Top seems to be poplar around here. Might give that a try.

Ah!! Nothing like a good cold beer on a warm day especially after mowing the grass or just on a hot day in the summer, or at any time for that matter.

Hot days and cold beer just seem to go together.

Shandies can be quite refreshing. A Golden (Bass/Stella) is also a nice change at times (though I find they creep up on you if you're not careful!).

Shandies are a good summertime refresher. As Mike said, I wouldn't be drinking them all evening.
...Speaking of refreshing beer, I've recently been introduced to Hefeweizen. Can't believe I haven't tried that style before. That stuff is delicious. Too easy to drink.

Shock Top is decent, definitely better than the domestics. For some reason though, all of their brews seem to be really light on flavor... Almost too light. Maybe that's just their style, or my taste buds.

Agree nothing like a cold beer on a hot day , but I prefer room temp. during the colder weather. Seems to go down smother.

So, I was super early for a dinner date last night and as I was wondering the streets I stumbled across a Tradition Irish bar, with all the trimmings, including the old Irish guy sitting at the end of the bar having a few quiet ones, with his loaf of bread that he was probably supposed to have taken home hours ago... Anyways, I saddled up and asked for a pint of Guinness, Before last night I had regretfully never had a Guinness on tap before. They did the proper 2min pour and everything, it is really quite an amazing thing to watch for the first time!
I was really quite impressed with the whole adventure really, especially the part where before I had even finished my glass, the bartender asked me if I wanted another one. That's the kind of hospitality that I wouldn't expect from a pub right in the middle of a capital city! Definitely going to go back there again if I am ever in the area... just need to remember where it is

I remember having Berliner Weisse or 2 or 3...delicious. They had two kinds, a raspberry and another, right? Both sweet and refreshing on a warm day.

Mark my Friend... as a man from across the pond... you know full well that Guinness must be pulled from the tap and served not cold, but cool, to REALLY be enjoyed.
It just isn't the same from the bottle.
On the cans of Guinness it says 'serve extra cold'.
