Cam is NOT getting a baby from me and that's final. If we can get a puppy and it's happy and healthy... maybe someday I'll consider it. But for now.... no babies, just a puppy... I'll even take a kitten if we weren't allergic.

My wife and I had 2 Akitas that we got 2 years apart as puppies. Our female's full name was Meschugene Keppele and we called her Kepi. She was about 110 pounds and wasn't afraid of anything but, like classical Akitas she never barked.
2 years later we got my bestest buddy ever, Mas. His name was short for Masutatsu Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin karate. He used to meditate sitting under a waterfall and alledgedly killed a charging bull by punching it in the forehead. My buddy Mas grew to be a bull, himself, weighing in at 140 pounds which is big for an Akita. He prevented a home invasion by local gang members when I was still on the street in Waukegan, kept me safe from a bear in the northwoods, and I am convinced that he would have happily given up his life to keep me or my wife safe from harm.
We had to send them both over Rainbow Bridge about 4 years ago. I still miss him, and I cry when I think about him. He was truly one of a kind and there will never be another like him.

Your pets and children all sound great. However, I believe my rotten to the bone Rat Terrier, Skeeter has to be the best of the lot.
I'm prejudiced! He is now 8 years old. He was given to me by my late wife the Christmas before she passed. This is undoubtedly the smartest dog I have encountered. He goes to the pantry and comes out whinning for food, the same at the door for his constitutional time. And God, this dog loves coffee. If you set a cup down, he will run over and nudge the cup with his nose and look at you and whine. Lord, I wish I could have a full cup of coffee for myself! Come bath time, you can't find him. But let me turn on the lawn sprinklers and he goes into attack mode. Running from sprinkler head to head trying to eat them alive. Quite amusing. And of course he has the short man syndrome. Will try to attack any bigger dogs that would have him for lunch. I have to pick him up to get by them.
