Tomorrow (if I don't wimp out) I'm going to get my head shaved with a straight (probably shavette) razor. I have known the guy for a long time. Our kids go to school together and he helps me coach baseball. I knew he was a barber and I asked him today if he knew a guy who would skin my melon for me. He said yeah,....me. He said he uses a straight razor. He's going to try to work me in tomorrow afternoon. I told him if he gives me razor burn that his son is going to ride the bench all season.

You'll enjoy it...sounds like he knows what he is doing. It might not be as close as you can get against the grain, but the hot towel, hot lather and aftershave are a treat. Enjoy!

I'm not looking for BBS (I told him that). Just want some place to go and hang out with the guys. Says he only charges $15 bucks. Works for me!

Well I'll let you know how it goes for sure. You might have an expert in town if you know where to look. I never thought about it, but the guy doing my shave works at an African-American Barber Shop. He said he shaves a head almost daily. The cool thing is that it's across the street from where I play basketball on Friday mornings. If I like it, I might have to make it a Friday ritual. I'll let you know how it goes.

As a Barber, I've been shaving alot of head for sometime. I just hoped I could find a barber to shave my head. The men I shave always tell me it's a relaxing experience to just lay relaxed and have someone else do the shaving. Most if not all fall asleep on me while getting shaved. They feel pampered from beginning to end. I will spend the afternoon calling the local barber shop and hopefully I'll find someone to take care of me for a change.

Well I did the deed today and unfortunately I have to say MEH. Wish I had a better report

It wasn't a traditional wet shave. I'm not knocking it, but there were no towels or strops and what not. Just some barbosol with mentol and a shavette. I might do it again some other time, but I'm not chomping at the bit. I did like the bay rum aftershave and the conversation. And I ran into some old friends from high school. He found the bump on the back of my head and scratched the side. But I will say it was super smooth. I think I'm just a perfectionist. I could do a much better job. Maybe I should go to barber college

I'm not saying it was bad. If I was in a pinch and needed a quick shave, I would go back. It wasn't an earth shaking/life changing experience. It was just a shave that I didn't have to do. He didn't cut me any worse than I could have done myself and have done in the past. And it wasn't a hack job. No razor burn or razor bumps. Like I said before just Meh

agreed, i live in a town of 60,000, the closets plcae that will do a straight razor headshave is downtown Denver, which is an hour drive, and i hate Denver traffic on I-25 especially whenyou get to 120th, sometimes it takes more than a half hour to get from 144th street exit to the coors field exit, this is one reason why i prefer living in Loveland (larimer county) plus i dont pay taxes that they pay in the six county area,
they are paying for DIA(airport), Coors Field, Invesco Field, and Pepsi center in Denver, adams, broomfield, boulder, jefferson, and araphoe counties.
i dont pay those extra sales taxes in larimer county
I'd love to get this done.... you would think that living in small town America it woulf be easy to find a place. Not so..........

Glad to hear that you did get shaved. I was not one bit satisfied with my first barber shave. I 've done it myself ever since. There are plenty of good tips and advice t be had on this web site. I suggest you try them and report back Keep it off you won't regret it. Good luck.

I've been shaving my head for almost 7 years

That was the first time I let someone else do it. But I do agree about the knowledge of the people on this site

Was just on vacation and I treated myself to a head shave - - - -
I was on the ship "Caribbean Princess" and do they know how to charge $95.00
I really do the head shave better myself - although it was very relaxing - - - and took about an hour

Wow. $95 is way above what I'd be willing to pay for a head shave. I never even close to that much when I had a full head of hair to cut.
