The beauty of being ourselves
« on: April 20, 2010, 10:32:31 PM »
I didn´t know where else to fit this so I´m sorry if it´s in the wrong place. Just some thoughts that I decided to write down. Good luck,it´s a long journey O0
How do you know if a bald man loves you? Well the day he allows you to shave his head  will be the same day he´ll tell you he loves you. And that, my friend, is the purest love you can and will ever get from somebody, the kind of love that is not heard but felt. The kind of love that doesn´t take words to exist. It doesn´t take too much to feel it because it´s present in each and every gesture. From the very first moment of the day to the very last you´ll see that you need nothing but it. All your problems will be gone if you just start looking around and finding answers within yourself. With us, bald men, it ain´t different. We are all much alike. We need and like love and caring, hugging and sharing. We need it all to come in the some "package", you know what I mean right? We have the same needs, good times and bad times just like everybody else. The thing is that unlike other men or women we found through baldness and shaving a way to tell the world: Hey I´m here. I wanna be, I am, I decided to and I like being a part of this world. Do you have fun regulary? Yeah? Well then don´t judge me or try to hurt me. Come on buddy. Instead I have a better idea. Why don´t you let me join the party? Come on, let me have fun too. Let´s all get together and have lot´s of fun.
What I´m trying to say is that everybody and when I say everybody I really mean it. Everybody needs a way to participate and show their way of living and show the things they chose to believe in. You´re a part of this world and so am I. We all participate using our own differente ways. Some like painting, some like writing down beautiful words that will make people feel good, some like reading. The point is everybody is different and thank somebody for that (thank Budha, thank God, thank Jesus, thank Obama, thank Al Jarreau, thank Patti LaBelle, thank Aretha Franklin, whoever it is that you what to thank, it doesn´t matter). You see? Even when we wanna thank somebody for something good that just happened we choose to thank different people. That proves, once again something that we all know for sure, that we´re all different from each other and that´s what makes everything so great. Since we are different, I have to find a way to have a good and healthy relationship. Let´s allow ourselves to give more than those: Good morning mr. neighboor, good evening mr. neighboor. We should not greet just because somebody told us it was the right thing to do each and every single day of our lives. Come on guys. Let´s greet, lets shake hands, let´s hug because we feel like doing. Let´s care about that person on the subway who doesn´t look so happy. Let´s care about the person who cooks our lunch. Let´s care about the guy who drives the bus we take all the time. Let´s care about those who we made invisible. They are not invisible. They all need the same things we do. I´m sorry about losing the topic in this text but it happens to me all the time. I start talking about something and then five minutes later I start talking about something else. I was intending to speak on behalf of the bald men who just like me sometimes feel sad about the way that we might be treated but anyway I´m listening now to a Patti´s song, you know Patti LaBelle right? If you don´t I feel obliged to tell you that you have a serious problem, you should get dressed right now and run to the nearest cd store and buy you some Patti´s records (and let me warn you, don´t you expect your life to be the same after you´ve allowed yourself to hear her singing, that girl is bad. She will blow off the roof, the walls and everything else in your house with her notes, I´m telling you that girl is bad). Ok, ah I´m listening to this Patti´s record, Way Up There and guys I don´t get tired of that song. I just cannot seem to get enough of it. It´s one of the perfect diamonds of music, you know what I mean right? "Every woman, Every child and Every man will one day take each other´s hand". Is it great or what? Ahn? Isn´t it just super perfect? That´s what this text is all about. People. The way we see us and most important than that, the way we see our friend who shares the same public room with us. I like Patti not only because of her wonderful songs but also because she always gives us the honor and opportunity to stop for a minute, look within ourselves and ask: Is this right? Am I living the way I think I should live? Do I really respect people and myself?
So guys that should be all by now but hey remember this is NOT ONLY about bald men or bald women. We are talking here about everybody. Gay, Straight, Bald Men and Bald Women, Those who can´t talk, Those who can´t walk, Those who can´t hear. Remember that even though we might seem to you a little bit different and not capable of something we all feel the same and we have, and be sure about this, feelings just like you. So come one, start now let´s just give ourselves a wonderful gift this april, let´s all give somebody some respect. "R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Find out what it means to me" (Aretha Franklin).
And sorry if there´s any incorrect word. I usually speak more often than I get a chance to write. I´m brazilian (South America) and the native language here is portuguese (português - not the same from Portugal but very similar) not english. And therefore I might have written down some wrong word but I guess you all got the message right? That´s the most important. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful April.
Pedro Terra.

Pedro, welcome to SBG!
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Thank you guys. Thank you for being so kind to me. I really appreciate that and it is really a great pleasure and such a wonderful joy to be here, to participate and now be a member of this family.
More topics to come as soon as I have some idea that I might consider to be worth sharing. Thank you all once again and let me know what you think about the text. Let me know a little bit about your experiences with baldness. Have yourselves a great week.
