Hi, my name is Andrew and I am 36 years old. I started losing my hair from MPB in my mid-20s and am now maybe a Norwood 4. I refused Minoxidyl and Propecia so I guess I am just letting myself naturally bald and it seems to be working, haha. But seriously, it has destroyed my self-esteem and slightly above average looks. If I was a 7 before, I am now a 2 just because of my hair. It's amazing what hair can do to change your appearance. I used to do pretty well with the ladies, now I can't get laid to save my life, let alone a date.
So I just shaved my head today. What a mistake! You can read my other post under REACTIONS. I try and keep up a good attitude like all of you sly guys on here but the simple truth is I look ridiculously ugly with a shaved head. Also, as a newbie, just wondering how I can post pictures on here of myself? I couldn't figure it out under the help section. Thanks!

Welcome

. Calm down, take a really deep breath. Now stick it out 30 days, that's the rule and it exists for a purpose. No one, I repeat no one, I have ever seen looked better balding/ w/ all the problems that has, than sly. Now keep it up thirty days, don't worry about yourself, do something every couple of days for someone else--best if they don't expect it--that's to get your focus back on life. Helping others, w/ a new sly dome, you''ll end thirty days a new man. Get with it.

Since I've been reading the forum regularly I have been keeping a close eye out for those that are Sly at work. I work in a building with 400 employees. One day I decided to count everyone I could wearing the smooth look. I lost track at 14 people (and that was before lunch). That's not even counting the guys with a very short buzz. It's definitely a growing trend and guys like the ones you'll meet on this forum are a big part of the reason.
I haven't shaved it off completely yet, but that is coming very soon. (My wife suggested keeping it short for a couple of weeks to allow the white to tan a little first.) I should have taken your approach and just gotten it over with.

Welcome to the forum! It'll work out...give it some time. I just finished the 30 days and had my doubts also on the 1st or 2nd day. Now, I love it. Good luck, buddy. Glad you found us here.

Welcome to the Forum! I'm betting you look just fine.... it's a change my Friend.... give it time. As for other people's opinions.... it's not their head or their life so it doesn't matter what they think.

Hey, just step back and take a deep breath. I know ( and most everyone on here does too) your story well. Sounds a lot like mine except I am married so not looking for new relationships but totally understand. I took "the plunge" and buzzed mine off about a week ago, and had the same thoughts. I couldn't even do it myself ended up going and paying someone. After looking at myself several times I realized it will still me just without that little bit of hair. Now I am really digging the look. I still haven't taken the razor to it yet but buzzing it to the skin now, mainly to let myself and the family get used to less and less hair. I am sure you look just fine. Take the advise here it has helped me greatly. I am so much more at ease with it after just a week it is amazing. These guys know what they are talking about. I don't think I will ever let it grow back. doesn't matter what anyone thinks I look like. It matters about you doing what is good for you. Good Luck, and nice to meet ya.

I can relate sequenceme 100%.
It is hard to except at first and you will feel that you may not be getting that attention you used to.
Your self-esteem just took a hit. I know it is easier said than done, but once you except that you cannot control it you are taking the first step. Your confidence is what is going to make the difference, not your hair. The way you carry yourself is what is going to change you outlook. Only you can make yourself happy.
Things may seem bleak at first, give it sometime to get used to it (the color to blend in to your skin tone, looking in the mirror) and it will gradually become easier.
Alot of the members on this site have been in the same situation. Take the positive feedback and don't let other's perceived perception bring you down.
Women love the confidence. Those that are only focused on hair are shallow.
Good only made a handful of us with perfect heads, the rest he gave hair to!

Hey mate!
Welcome and stop stressing! Best way to upload a pic is make it your profile pic - go to profile and upload it there.
I had these issues as well, and I'm sure a lot of guys here have had them. The thing about shaving your head is it that it does change your appearance drastically, but not negatively, looking at yourself with no hair after years of having it comes as a bit of a shock, but it really doesn't make that much difference at the end of the day. Don't let it beat you, show us your pic so we can confirm that you are worrying about nothing!
cheers!!! chin up!
