Whodathunk I needed some practice shaving the noggin' before I got "the shave"?

Happened today. The first few shaves had been with different razors, different SC, oil or not, soaped head or not, etc. I went simple today with this set-up:
Neutrogena Face Wash to clean up and soften the hair
Aveeno Shave Gel
Bic Sensitive razor
Witch Hazel
Aveeno lotion
The first few shaves had some cuts and irritation with my Atra razor and Dollar General version of the Mach 3. The Bic didn't cut as close but there was no bloodshed and lopping off bumps. I may have to thank the shave gel for that, also. It works wonderfully.
I wasn't 100% sure I'd do the 30 day deal but with a set-up that works now, I don't think it'll be too hard. Also scheduled a dermatologist appt. for the 23rd to see if I can get some of these bumps taken off and make it a whole lot easier.

Just wanted to share how things were going. Really happy today!
That's great news. Keep it up!

Glad to hear that it is moving toward a zen experience, as it should be. Suggest, only suggest, spend on the razor[i.e., temps are cr_p], my preference either the M5 or Fusion, and some Nivea Extreme Shave Balm. AND, this is MAJOR--my total rant right now--USE SUNSCREEN, every day--it's important, and I've got a lot of precancerous now former bo-bo's on my beautiful dome to show you what not doing it does, granted I did it delaying getting rid of the combover

.
This is going to work and you will be a happy Sly Guy, we promise.
A good routine can make all the difference. Glad to hear that you seem to have yours dialed in!
You are a very brave man for using the Bic.
Thanks for the replies.
I've actually collected razors over the last few years- older Safety Razors- Double Edge and single edge razors- and use a Merkur Slant to shave my face everyday. So, I prefer a single blade razor (when I was using carts on my face beforehand, I would always get razor bumps). For me, even though the Bic is cheap plastic and in-expensive, it's more forgiving when I hit those little bumps/moles compared to the safety razors and the Atra/TracII/Mach3 type razors I own.
But, when the Bic's are done with, I may try out Bump Fighter Cartridges again. They fit on a Trac II design razor and worked wonders for my face razor bumps the last time- even though the shave is not super close...
