Introduction. Hello!

Hey everyone.
I'm new to this, and this is the first forum i've become a member of, so be gentle with me.
I'm a 21 year old musician/student/barman. For the majority of my life i've suffered from an anxiety condition which made it very hard for me to socialise. Without ranting on about it, i basically came to a point where i was afraid to leave my house, i'd tried to start fresh at universities in other towns an both came crawling back after a week. Recently i decided i'd had enough of living my life around my confidence issuses, so started working at a busy local bar. The first few months were a nightmare but after that i became a lot more confident and started being the person i always wanted to be. Never being popular with the fairer sex, as i have always been very insecure about my looks.i started meeting girls on nights out and getting phone numbers and compliments etc, everything was great, everyone kept telling me how proud they were of me and that they could see a big difference. I was finally starting to really make the most of my life....
Then recently, the manager at work noticed a bald patch on the back of my head. My confidence was completly shattered. The doctor told me i was going bald and there was nothing i could do about it. After confiding in friends and family, everyone says i looked fine and it wasn't noticable, but i can clearly see using two mirrors the patch on the back of my head, even though the rest is full. I'm now finding it hard to work as my panic attacks have returned. I felt cheated that i'd had a glimpse of being who i'd always wanted to be and then just lost it.
I'm booked in to have my head shaved tomorrow, but i'm really frightened about it because i don't like my face and i look quite young for my age as it is...
Stumbling across this forum was great for me as some of the stories are really inspirational.
Sorry for the legnthy post, and thanks to anyone who reads this or offers their story or advice.
Thanks again for your time

Welcome to the SBGs, Frosty! You are definitely not alone in your predicament, as you have seen by browsing the forum. You'll do just fine tomorrow. You'll probably feel fantastic after getting your head shaved, and I'm positive you'll look great.

Welcome to the Forum FrostedP! You're feeling a lot of what many guys who are losing their hair feel.... they are normal feelings for many. The great thing is you can permanently banish those feeling with a quick shave of the head. Your confidence woill soar and yes the ladies like shaved heads.
Stand tall and confident my Friend! Othes are drawn to confident, happy people.... be that magnet!

From reading your post Frosty, it would seem that you have already worked out and proven that facing your anxieties is the way forward in life. Apply the same logic to hair loss, if you take it by the horns, shave and embrace it you will be a more confident individual altogether. It's all part of the life adventure. Welcome to the forum

Hello FrostP! I am so glad you found this site. Continue to come around and the guys here will be behind you 100 %. Yes, we have all been where you are today. I must say that I do admire you for your fortitude in mastering what you see as a problem. Actually, there is No Problem. Half the men of the World have MPB. It seems to me that they had no problem attracting the fairer sex. Hang in there and Ms. right will come along. Be wishes for tomorrow!. I know you will love it!!

Welcome, sounds like you put aside a major issue. Hair is nothing really. And, start looking around shaved is more than acceptable as a musician. You'll stand out as a barman. And with your confidence and abilities, school will work out--But, I have to caution, it's not any easier bald than hairy, that's just the way it is. People will remember your name and sounds like you have a nice personality too--it will take you far.

I just skimmed over it and one line caught my eye, the one about looking younger. When I had hair everyone thought I was younger than what I was. Now that I have been Sly for awhile I still get some people saying that I look like I'm 15 and others say I look 26 (im 20) so dont worry about it too much. Just think, when others your age are 50 and look 60, you will look 40 or even 30
