Evidently gently drying your razors after use can dramatically prevent the blade dulling, its an interesting read and if you need to save money on blades check this article out.

Or use that old blow dryer you no longer have a use for!

I've had that in mind all along.  It may seem silly, but I have always blown on razors to remove excess water, and stored them in a dry place (not in the shower or by the sink).  And now I store the razor in olive oil after blowing it off.  I have always used one blade (Mach 3) 3 weeks at the very least and up to two months.

I would like to see if there is any proof of this.  I shave in the shower, and that is where my razors stay between shaves.  And I have four people in my house taking showers daily.  So my razors probably never actually dry.  I think I'm going to start taking them out of the shower and patting them dry to see if I can get more life out of them.  I know it will get me more life in one way.  My kids seem to knock my face razor off the rack in the shower every so often and break them.  Hasn't happened to the Headblade...yet.

yeah the article says the razors that are dried off stay sharp up to 122 percent longer then razors that arent dried. because the rusting causes the blade to flake and become jagged and rip hairs out instead of cutting through them making the shaving less comfortable.

I've just bought a device called the "razor pit" which claims to extend blade life up to 150 shaves.

Very sceptical but at £20 it's worth a go.  i've had three shaves with same triple blade using the razor pit to clean after each use.  Will keep you updated.

anyone been trying this out? i've been keeping my mach3 dry after each shave and its maintained sharpness for a few months now. So far it seems pretty legit

I routinely shake the water off of my fusion (for my face) to make sure it is dry and it does seem to extend the life of the blades. Though not to the "3 months" that it says it should last on the package, but that's another issue.

I would actually like to see some concrete scientific evidence on all these, "tried and true" methods of making your blades last longer.

I'd also like to see evidence that shows a Fusion blade can last 3 months.   :x!

Me too!  Besides, if I don't change the blade every Saturday, how do I know it's Saturday? :D

From the sounds of all this, you might only have to change your blades once a month; so then you'd know what month it is!  O:O

I think it boils down to this.  Some of you brothers have a lot less hair than me.  Those blades wear out a lot slower shaving off those six hairs you still have on your head.  Who's the lucky on in this scenario?  ^-^

hey fellas, i just thought i'd share something that's worked for me. i got an old empty bottle of nailpolish from my girlfriend, rinsed it out with acetone and put olive oil in it. just take out the tiny brush and brush some on the blade to stop corrosion. plus, there's no mess and you don't waste oil! works like a charm for me O0
