Hi,
Yeah it is me again.
I am really wondering if I should shave my head with a razor (like Bruce Willis and many of you guys) or a clipper at the lowest level.
It is because I find it cool on myself even if it shows a little bit that I have some hair on top of my head and more (but it is really short). I have the dillema of starting to shave completely every day, or letting it grow up and shave like once a week or something like that. It is a question of confidence and also in Quebec is it FREAKING COLD...
I don't know if some of you guys had the experience in the past and you could share it with me. What would you recommend ? Extreme shave, or shave one time a week...
I know it is a silly question, but you guys have a lot of experience and maybe could help me!

It's really only up to you bro... what do YOU like?
Personally I hate stubble of any kind and when I shave it's gotta be smooth from every direction! But that's just me!

Well if there's a mantra other than "No Drugs, No Rugs, No Plugs" that is at the heart of SBG, the other has to be There Are No Silly Questions when it comes to the Dome of a Sly Guy.
I prefer the feel of a Baby Butt smooth dome, but that's a personal preference. And, being from the other end, the warm one, of French influence on the North American continent, New Orleans, I can't imagine what it feels like to hit a newly bared scalp to sub zero F or C temps. I do get the chance to come close a couple of times a year at our Company Headquarters in upstate NY near the border--FLEECE BEANIE TIME Si Vous Plait!
Nonetheless, my personal advice, shave to the bone for 30 days, fleece beanies outside in addition to whatever else you do to live at that temperature (and I have relatives in Minnesota--the first blond joke, Why would the first Scandanavian to land in America as an immigrant go to Minnesota rather than Florida? Cheaper lutefisk maybe?).
That's just my suggestion, but then I pull on the beanie after the gym if it's less than 50 F, and all the time in NO cold, i.e. below 40. Freezes, forget it. At least at either end of the French Cultural Line between our areas, whatever the temperature, we eat better than the rest of our countrymen--it's a fact, get over it.

Honestly, I think that becoming bald is making me realize how important it is to "take care" of himself. I mean, I am looking more towards nice clothes, washing carefully my clothes, dressing well, shaving better etc...
Is it only me, or becoming bald can really teach you a lesson on how to take care of yourself!? -

It's not just you.
As I pointed out in your thread on black clothing, many of us have has this happen. The increased confidence/pride has led many of us to do things such as: seek a better wardrobe, lose weight, and generally take better care of ourselves. -

By the way, after shaving I will put some cream or whatever. my question is: HOW LONGS HOULD I WAIT before I can put a hat on or something like that, with the extreme cold that is in quebec!? 1 hour ? 20 minutes?

Well after shave balms should be really heavily applied, enough to comfort the scalp and soak in w/in a few minutes. I'd then pop on the fleece beanie and a parka and whatever else is necessary and head out.

i thought i'd give my take ona few things....
if your not sure if to go with the clippers or razor, i actually recommend going with the razor. worse case scenario, you don't like it, so go with the clippers. I love the feel of a smooth dome. It's awesome. Every guy should experience it at least once. I'm lucky, i get to feel it all the time.
I've actually found that since i've been razor shaving my head, i'm more confident (about my hair) and when i don't shave for a few days, i'm not as confident. Now that's somethin' i dont' understand.
I don't mind a bit of stubble, so maybe razor shave every 2 or 3 days, depending on how quick your hair grows

Dude, I wish I had hair on top of my head. I would rock the low bristly look all day. If you don't get annoyed with the mess and time of using clippers on the low setting I say go for it. You might also want to consider an electric razor with a "hey, not so close" setting
