The "Ripple Effect"..........

Tyler made a post on here a couple weeks back and in it he mentioned the "Ripple Effect" of what we promote here at SBG. You know..... How one piece of advice can be grabbed onto by someone viewing the Forum and then that advice will be passed on by that guy, and then by the guy he passes it to, etc..
So the words "Ripple Effect" have been bouncing around in my head ever since that post. The "Ripple Effect", to me personally, is also known as "Paying it Forward"..... do something nice for a stranger and they, in kind, will probably "Pay it Forward" by doing something nice for some other stranger. I've posted about this in the past.
Why am I talking about the "Ripple Effect"? What better time to talk about it? The Holidays are at our door step, the economy is in the toilet for many folks, and there are a lot of people that could just use a little kindness to let them know that everything will be OK.
So......... Here's is my "Ripple Effect Challenge" to my Brothers, Friends, and even lurkers. Simply.... do something nice for a stranger, at least once a week for the rest of the year. With about eight weeks left in the year that's only eight small deeds of kindness.
What can you do? Well anything really....... take the shopping cart and put it away on the WalMart parking lot, load the old ladies' groceries into the car for her, stop and change that flat for the stranded lady, just talk to someone who looks like they need a kind word. Life will present you with a multitude of opportunities everyday.... you just have to recognize them.
If someone you help out should offer you money (it happens) or ask what they can do to thank you...... just ask them to do something nice for another stranger. I guarantee you will receive a big smile and a thank you.
Eight small deeds guys....... multiplied by each of the eight you help and then by those they help. The SBG "Ripple Effect" for 2009..........

When I opened this, I thought this was going to be a report on all those sit ups you've been doing, Koz.
Great idea. It's this time of the year that people should really take stock of those things that are important and treat our fellow man with kindness and respect. Hopefully that attitude rubs off on them.

Imagine how great it will be if you help someone and when they tell their friends, or kids, or spouse they say...... "Yeah, I broke down and some guy with a shaved head pulled over and helped me".

i actually did this today. it was a nightmare. but in a fun way, if that makes sense. one of the crane operators that i work with rode with someone else. (4 hour drive so they rode together). the guy he rode with, had a family issue and had to leave a couple days early. so i said it would be no problem for him to ride with me to meet another guy that lives near him. this morning when we were getting ready, two other guys said their ride was not gonna make it. i told them to load up and i would be glad to drop them off. about 20 minutes away from work, i run out of gas. so we sat on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere till someone brought us some gas. we finally got on the road and made it home. my two hour commute took over four hours. but we all just laughed and made the best of it. just kinda sucked that the one time that i am trying to do a good deed, this happens. the guys were very cool about it. now i need beer. lol

Worse, I thought Koz had found a use for Ripple wine on the dome

.
Seriously, great idea.

I'll jump on the bandwagon with this. What a great way to get in a holiday mood and who knows, maybe it will become a habit

Great idea Mike and you are right, there are opportunities all around us. If you can't come up with a kind deed, then pay for the person behind you in the drive through.

You would think so and even hope so...... but if you truly believe the question that you yourself asked.... Then me thinks ye be a bit naive mate.
