need some advice on shaving

• I still havent done it yet(yes i know) I was just wondering If what I plan to do will work okay.  Im a little concerned about shaving my head because my scalp is really dry and I have dandruff problems, just wondering if that will be detrimental for when I shave. Also my razor is a mach3 and for shaving cream i just have basic barbasol(or whatever its called) beard buster. Will that work for my head for if/when I finally take the plunge?

• You're in for one of the best feeling you've ever had!
  
  That being said, get it clipped as close as possible, the so called zero guard.  Next--take a nice warm shower and really soak your head, even use some shampoo and conditioner.  Leave the conditioner on.  Then, apply the shaving creme--you'll find whether a gel or Headslick (my favorite) works best later.  Take a FRESH blade, and TAKING YOUR TIME shave your head.  Usually, going from front to back on the top, then from bottom to top on the sides and back.  Rinse, reapply some more shaving creme, and carefully and slowly do it again.  Rinse well with warm water, then cold, or an ice cube is even better.  Look in the mirror--you're Sly Dude--
  Now, some astringent, hydrogen peroxide or witch hazel, whatever you have, applied w/ a cotton pad is easiest IMO.  Now, when dry apply an after shave balm, I find Nivea Extreme great, but whatever. 
  
  You will find that you'll have a couple of red spots, etc., don't worry they will go away. 
  
  That's it.  You may feel a numbness on your scalp, it's wonderful, but it too goes away--but you'll always remember it.
  
  FINALLY--sunscreen--minimum 30spf.  You're good to go.  ENJOY

• I think saintc touched pretty much everything. I personally recommend some good exfoliating on your scalp with some good moisturizing shampoo or conditioner and let it sit while you do your other stuff and then rinse and either shave in the shower or at a sink *recommend the sink the first time* I can't speak for everyone else, but I find the shaving helps dandruff problems, it scrapes off all the excess skin and seeing there is no hair its easier to help treat the scalp too with other moisturizers as necessary. Everyones got their own opinions and preferences about shaving lubricants although many will agree that you will want to avoid foams from a pressurized can because these truly just don't do anything for moisturizing skin and softening of the beard/head hair, it just kinda sits on the top. Also not all do, but  most who have tried will agree that using a shaving brush will help wonders.

  I used to have dandruff problems when I grew out my hair.      Yeah those days were not cool.
  With dry scalp, it's important to keep your hair wet while shaving.  Once a while you should wet
  your scalp.  The more you do it the easier the hairs will come off.   Mach 3 is a great choice by the way.
  
  I think you should start with Headslick as your shaving cream.  It will give you much protection so that
  you don't cut yourself and have a scalp that's not irritated.   
  
  By the way, make sure you regularly change your Mach 3 blades.  I have to use a different blade every 4 shaves.
  If you don't change your blade on time, then ouch your skin will be irritated (like mine).   
  But hey, it's trial and error.

  A clean scalp, some fresh air, some sunshine and your dandruff will be a thing of the past. Oh and don't make something that is as simple as shaving your face complicated. Enjoy.

• the blade changing thing is the problem I dont have any money and just the mach 3. And i noticed the blades are like 20 bucks for a pack. and after paying for college im completely flat ass broke. and the job market here is terrible -_- I guess i could use some of my left over student loan money.

  That will work, and you have to change them for your face anyway--then deduct the price of the hair cuts--it's the total cost.  You're obsessing here, get it done.

• Personna just came out with a razor called the M5 that is supposed to be very similar to what you're using. I haven't tried it yet but a few people on here have and it's gotten fairly good reviews. The razor with 2 carts is about $6 and a 4 cart refill is said to be about $6 also.
  The Edge gels are good and pretty cheap also, about $2.50 a can. I've used them with good results.

• Trial and error...but there will be a product that works for you.
  
  I'm lucky as I just put on some ClearHead by Headblade and I'm good to go.  I'm sure other things would work for me as well.
