Someplace on the Forum someone posted a link to UTube that showed it being done--it looked REALLY painful.

Wow, that sounds like it would be too painful to be worth it. The first thing that comes to mind is 40 Year Old Virgin, when he gets his chest waxed. OUCH!!!

How long does your hair have to be for it to work? The skin on my head is pretty tuff, I don't really know how bad it would hurt..

Go to YouTube, search "head waxing," see if you find any that finish!

I had considered it in the past, but I figured it would be too painful and it would be hard to do by yourself.
Now that I've tweezed and the regrowth is very sparse (and therefore it would be less painful), I might consider it later to see how it compares to tweezing.
My tweezing experience is that even doing a tiny area was extremely painful the first time... I can't image ripping out a huge area at once. Then again, it might be better to get it over with faster...
If you've got the balls, I say go for it... Just remember that once you start you've got to finish the whole head!

I keep finding myself intrigued with the idea of lasering my scalp, but I'm turned off with the high cost and questionable results I've read. I've also got a lot of gray which is not affected by the laser. Tweezing and waxing seem like a cheap way for me to see what a truly bald head would be like, BUT DAMN IT LOOKS PAINFUL! I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on this!
I think I could tolerate it, but I always remember the time at work years ago when I stuck a large sticker on my arm and kept rubbing and rubbing it. Then a while later my coworker yanked it off against the grain. That hurt like hell! But, again, I think I could tolerate it.
One thing that concerns me is actually ripping the skin from my head. How easily can that happen? I'd imagine as long as I kept the strips small it would be safe. How does it compare to tweezing?

it really depends on the thickness of your hair i think. My hair isnt that thick so I feel like it wouldnt hurt too bad. The sides are what worry me most, maybe my neck sides. I saw a bunch of videos where guys were writhing in pain but i also saw a video of a guy who took it just fine...

Yeah, and keep a bottle and shot glass handy for those difficult moments.
