Well folks, hate to break it to you, but Labor Day is just around the corner..literally, its this weekend, which means sort of a mark to the end of summer. What kind of plans does everyone have for this weekend?
September around here is a busy month, we have a ton of activities going on here. To start off, my wife will participate in the annual quilt auction. This auction will bring people in from all over the world. There are generally about 100 quilts that will be auctioned off and each one going from prices in range from $600-$2000. Its amazing what a little "cotton" will bring in.
After that we will have a big cook out up at the boat club where there will be some skiing, tubing and pontoon boating, horse shoe tourny and just alot of fun. GOOD FOOD great friends= Fun Times.
Sept 12, there will also be the Annual Turkey Trot. Great Food there as well with loads of entertainment. YES WE RACE TURKEY'S! What you do is, go to one of the turkey farmers, buy you a turkey, dress it up in some funky costume , put a leash on it and race it. IMPORTANT INFO, NO TURKEYS ARE HARMED OR MISTREATED..thank you.
There is also pig wrestling, mud volleyball, rides for the kids, a beer garden, Horse pulls, demo derbies and tractor pulls. This years entertainment will be provided by country artists Randy Houser and Sammy Kershaw.
The weekend of the 25th we will be having our annual 20th Century Chevy Cruise In. Just a great display of old cars with alot of activities for the young and old. If you are close to this area, I would highly recommend you come visit and see this show if you are a car enthusiast. Come and enjoy the weekend in Washington Indiana, guarenteed a great time.
Hope you all have great end of summer celebrations, because our weekends are packed full around here. Have a great day!

That turkey trot sounds like a blast. Around here, a turkey trot is a 5K run for humans. Racing turkeys sounds like a lot more fun.
Anyway, for me, no big plans this weekend. In Grafton, IL, they are having replicas of the Nina and Pinta (Columbus's ships) on display. They are full size floating replicas. We're going to go check those out. Other than that hopefully golf one day and get the motorcycle out for a ride. Of course, the forecast right now is rain all three days.

We're going up towards Lake Tahoe and just chillin'. We have a small cabin right at Echo Summit that is our little getaway. Do some hiking, BBQ, play some boardgames with the kids, and probably do a little cabin clean up. We're still cleaning up after a bear broke in over the winter. We hung a new door last month, but we're still working through the mice issue. That part sucks.

Out in the open like that, mice are hard to combat. Good Luck though...

Hmm, I'm near Michigan State University right now (though I graduated in May), and usually some kids go home for labor day, for those of us who stay here, it's a weekend full of hot dogs and alcohol. Which sounds good to me.

We are headed to Branson, MO for a delayed mini-vacation. We were scheduled to go the week my son ended up in the hospital. I am really looking forward to it. Hope the weather holds up for us.

Timmy, you get Randy Houser just to race turkey's?! What the heck, lol. I will be working this weekend. Next weekend is the fun around here. It is the Interstate fair!!! I will be showing, we will have the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, Josh Gracin, Rodney Atkins, a rodeo, demolition derby, mutton bustin, tons of great food, lots of animal and other ag exhibits, carnival ride, and loads of other fun. It goes from the 11th to the 20th and I get in free because I am on the fair board and exhibit.

Heading out for camping tonight. We should be hooked up and set up by about 7PM....just in time to start a nice big fire.
It's been very cool at night here this week....about 50 degrees F. I imagine at the base of the mountain where we will be camping it will be even cooler than that.
