been lurking for the last couple weeks, thought i should finally say "hello".
my name is jay, i'm 32 and in/from san diego.
i actually found this site looking for tip/tricks about shaving it all the way down, as i had never done this before. followed a link.....and here i am. like many others here, the main-ish reason i took the plunge was the increasingly obvious disappearing hair line. it was first pointed out to me by a friend one day when i leaned over to tie my shoe, i was 22 i believe. honestly i didn't think anything of it at the time, but several months later i inspected the top of my head with a mirror, and HOLY CR*P-it is MPB. so, having been a "hat-wearer" since high school, i just made sure to always have one handy. i had a hard time dealing with it, and this went on for years and years. i'd keep it buzzed to a 2 or 3 anyway-i've never been fond of long hair.
out of the blue, thinking about it one night recently, i realized just how much time i wasted hiding it and pretending that it wasn't there, and how ridiculous this was. so that night i took it down with clippers and no guard. it looked pretty good.
a few hours later i found this site, and after perusing posting after posting, i went out the next morning and hit the store. i bought a new fusion, some shave gel, and a bottle of headslick. that night i shaved it all off. it was AWESOME.
i haven't worn a hat since. as has been said many times, the sudden acceptance of your situation and the decision to deal with it in the most proactive way possible resulted in a massive increase in self-confidence nothing short of amazing.
i'm only pissed that i hadn't the cajones to do this YEARS ago. the stories on this forum were a huge part of the realization of how stupid i was being about something as unimportant as hair.
sorry for all this blabber, but i just wanted to thank you all for your support.
