I'm Back
« on: August 15, 2009, 10:42:39 PM »
You guys probably don't remember me but I shaved my head for the first time this past January.I literally had the sly look for 4 days and then grew my hair back out.I was so bummed to see how much my crown was thinnning, whether i had long or short buzzed hair.Tonight though i joined the ranks again and am totally bald.I really wanna stay like this permanently so I dont have to stress over balding.Hopefully I can adjust and go out in poublic without a hat and just embrace being bald

I uploaded a photo. What do you guys think?ive been bearded for about 3 years now and when I shaved my head, I also trimmed down to my first goatee.I kinda wana grow a nice, bushy goatee. Is the goatee a keeper or should I revert back to a beard?I'm actually really liking being bald this time around.I'd idealy like to remain bald permanently, I just hope I can muster up the confidence to remain sly.Any encouragement will be accepted haha

Take a "chill pill" chillpil5.  You rock the sly look!

Even though you took a 6 month hiatus, you went back to shaving your head.  As others have said here, once you are "bitten" by the bug, there's no going back!

Welcome back!  The goat looks great.  Can't give you an opinion on the full beard though.  Haven't seen it.  I trimmed my goat a bit thin when I shaved my head, but am now working on growing it out.  I think it adds character.

Honestly, its a great look for you.  I was nervous about going out without a hat at first too, but finally decided what the hell.  It is just like any other hair style.  People will like it or they won't.  But who cares?  It's your head.  Besides, the hat keeps the color from evening up.

thanks guys.im really thinking I may be permanently bald now.As for my goatee, I was thinking of growing to this length (link not working).you think it'd be too much with the sly look or do you think I could pull it off?Like i said, I've never had a goatee before so I'd kinda like to try a longer style right off the bat as long as it'd look ok

Your link did not work.  Regardless, you never know how it is going to look until you try it.  And you can always shave it off if you don't like it.

Cut back on the shaving to every couple of days and see if that helps.

I shave mine every morning as part of my daily routine.  I have done this since day one and hit day 21 tomorrow.  I got a bit of a sunburn last week.  It was really mild but still made it a little tender.  That made shaving the next day a little tricky, but it hurt less when it was freshly shaved than when I ran my hand over stubble.  The pain was mild and lasted only a day or so.  Before I get lectured, I was wearing sunscreen.  ust had a lot of yard work to get done and got the driveway resurfaced.

If I am going out for the evening, I shave again so that the ladies only feel smooth when they stroke my head.   O:O

Welcome back!  Do the 30 day rule this time, I'm on day 92...  Keep the goat but keep it trimmed nice and neat, it's a good look.  Long facial hair with no hair on the noggin is not a good look, but that's just my opinion.  Be patient!  The color of your head will eventually change and catch up with the rest of your skin tone.  Probably not a good thing to tell you, but the sides of my head are still just a bit lighter than the top of my head after 92 days.  It's probably just me that notices it, we're all the worst critics of ourselves.  Stay SLY, it looks good on you!

With a thinning crown, you're on the road to being mpb.  Look at the chart, but ignore the sales pitch for drugs, at http://www.propecia.com/finasteride/propecia/consumer/understanding-mphl/norwood-hamilton.jsp .  You'll be able to determine what stage your scalp is in now and what you can reasonably expect to see over time.

Now consider what happens when you shave your head, the mpb continues because nothing ever really stops it, but you and your friends and associates don't watch it because it's "hidden" in plain sight by the application of the blade.

Beards are fine--I personally have a problem on how to end the full beard with a bald head so I've decided on an extended goat.  Some guys w/ dense growth can do a very trimmed up and carved goat--that looks good, but I don't have the density to get away with it.  Try different things out because it's your head, 24/7/365 and what pleases you is the most important consideration.
