After going to college where you you pretty much had to parallel park on a hill, I got pretty good at it.  Here's how I do it now:

I grew up in the city so parallel parking was a skill that you had to have...... I rarely have to parallel park anymore but when I do I can swing it right in.

Well, I drive a truck, and can parallel park in places many cars refuse to try, so I'd say I'm pretty good.  By the way Tyler, there's no way that's you, that guy has hair.

I will say that here on Main St in Washington, it is one way.  I can parallel park easily on the right side.  When it comes to parallel parking on the left side, it almost like a right handed person writing with his left hand.

Thirty years ago when I took my driving test we had to parallel park.  I pulled up to the barriers and did it just like they taught us in driver's ed.  When I completed it, I was farther into the road than when I started.  Nowhere near the parking spot.  I looked at the instructor and told her I never could do it in class.  She said go on.  Amazingly I still passed.  O0

Well I do drive a Mini--and there's one advantage if there are spaces only big enough for a Smart, I can put my car in my pocket and get about my business!!  Seriously, because it is so short you can't see the rear corners--that would be a problem, except they have a beeper system that indicates how close you are in the rear--so I really can shoehorn my Mini into some unbelievably small places.  My wife, who doesn't like my haircut, also doesn't like my car, but if we have to go to the French Quarter or other hard to park areas, she always says, "Better take your car!"  >:D First time I parked next to a Smart, I finally knew what it felt like to drive an Expedition!.  ;D ;D

I drive a Toyota Tundra Crew Max that is 19 feet long.  I parallel park that thing like it was a Mini.  My wife is consistently impressed.  Oh, and I don't have one of those beeper (cheater) systems either.  Although, I certainly wouldn't mind one, sometimes.   8)

I was with a business associate in France last year and he parked his station wagon into a spot that had maybe 6 inches to spare in the front and back.  He swung it in there in one try and never touched the other cars.  It was damn impressive.  In fact, he still brags about it and I let him.  I was very impressed.

There is not a lot of parallel parking where I live, but my father taught me how to do it when I was very young.  So, it is a skill that I have had since day 1 with driving.  I'm going to do the same thing with my three kids.  I learned to drive at 12 with a manual transmission.  My kids will do the same.

I don't know whether I like Tyler's or Timmay's vid better!! As for the parking, no problems here, no matter what I'm driving! Of course backing a trailer into a campsite....that's embarrasing for me!!!
It's all about attitude!

Parallel parking skills ... I could parallel park my Parent's '78 New Yorker and my Grandparent's '71 Impala.  Then  I started driving small cars which were a breeze.  I could get the Grand Cherokee into a spot but have not tried the Explorer yet.

I absolutely HATE parallel parking and will either make others drive or skip going into the city if at all possible to avoid it.  Although I have a friend who decided to move to downtown St. Paul.  Now that was a challenge.

Parallel parking is why they invented cabs.

And BTW, after 11 years in the military, even driving in convoy and through the woods, I STILL do not know how to drive a stick.  Once I learn, I have promised myself the Mustang GT.  Until then, I am stuck with the 6 cylinder automatic.
