My first accident

Just got out of the shower.
I shower shave.
I used a HB today with just oil as I do frequently,
but it has been a few days of using the Magnum M5
instead.
Well I took off a good chunk of skin, In the size of 3/8 inch wide by maybe 5/8 inch long.
And this was a meaty. Not a single layer of dead skin.
Now, I have gotten a bit fast with my blades and I think a combination of the fact that the HB razor was not brand new, but wasn't used up either, and the fact that with the Magnum I can apply a good amount of pressure, I may have used too much pressure with the HB this time, and maybe was a bit too fast of hand.
Anyway, I feel more foolish than any thing else. I have NOT had a nick of any sort since my first week of head shaving. I have been at it for over 6 weeks now.
I might not be able to shave that spot for a few days, I expect to get some real scab over... It is on the side of my head nearer the back so I can BARELY see it in the mirror.
Pulling the skin out from between the bade edges was a little gross.
Well that is my morning tribulation.
As always,
Eric

Amen to that.
And every time I read about someone cutting themselves, I get the willies!

It happens. You just have to go slow and no pressure on the front of the HB. Dont give up just yet.

Been there, done that. Happened at a crease where back of my head and nape of neck merge.
With the amount of aspirin I take to keep my separated shoulder down to a dull ache, it took forever to stop bleeding. Ended up rubbing some salt in it to get it to stop.

Salt? Ouch!

Keep one of those little styptic pencils on hand. They usually work quickly and reduce the size of the scab,

It happens! We get cocky. I've done it more then once. I've been shaving almost a year and from time to time I hear a crunch and then see the blood. A septic pencil works well but it stings like a SOB!!! But the bleeding stops almost immediately. If it scabs don't pick at it avoid the area or use a electric to get around it.

Styptic pencils are for wussies.
Real men use salt.

It is a little disconcerting when you have to pull a chunk of flesh out of your blade, though.

I almost never cut myself when shaving anymore, but I hate it when it happens. For me it's hard for me to keep shaving after I cut myself and with my luck I usaully have half my head to shave still after cutting myself

I feel as though I'm more likely to cut myself after I alread have once. OH MY GOD! IT'S TASTED HUMAN BLOOD!!!
