Title: Moles and Other Bumps
Post by: bem75 on May 22, 2009, 09:34:41 AM
guys,
I am getting really tired of nicking the same damn moles and bumps on my head.  Has anyone here had moles removed from their noggin?  I'm thinking about getting this done ASAP.

Brad

Luckily I don't have any on my head.  I do hate it if I get an ingrown hair and then nick it.

Hey Brad, I have a very very sharp utility knife sitting here on my desk.  I can dip it in alcohol and slice it right off.  Then we can put some seam sealer on it so it wont grow back.  LOL   Sorry dude, I dont have any on my noggin at this time.  Hopefully I never will.

I have this one mole that keeps coming back in my armpit. As gnarly as it sounds I just cut it off with fingernail clippers. It's almost painless O0

I havent had a mole on my head but I had one on my side. I iced it up for awhile and used some nail clippers and clipped it right off. It hasnt come back really, just a little scar looking thing.

I'm glad I am not the only one using nail clippers hahaha

Everyone said I was crazy for doing it. It would be super hard to clip one off the head though.

I had one on my head when I first started shaving my head.  Unfortunately, I didn't know it was there.  LOL

The Mach3 took it right off.   ;D ;D

Not the recommended way, I might add.

Word of CAUTION.   Moles could be a serious matter.  If you have one and it is bothersome, gets sore or starts to turn darker, go see your doctor.  My wife had to have a could cut off and they sent them off to be tested because they could form into cancer.  So maybe "slicing" one off isnt such a good thing guys.  Just my opinion, take that seriously, as you do shaving your head.

I had a few red moles on my head (i think they were called angioma's), I had them removed by a dermatologist, had a few stitches in my head for a week and it's all good since then.
there's some good advice in other posts about the fact that it should be checked out by a doctor (for pathology).

I guess I have a small mole/birthmark of sorts behind my right ear and the first time my head was shaved (by my neighbor) he was like....

neighbor: uh.... dude do you have a mole or something by your ear?
me: Umm....I don't think so ....why??
neighbor: well...whatever it was...I just took a huge hunk out of it...
me: really?? Ok whatever I didn't even feel it

hahahaa good times

Most of the time these things can just be shaved off.  Have a supply of gauze or a stiptic (sp?) pen handy, though ;D  Occasionally, the MD's like to biopsy them, just in case.  Most of the time they freeze them off.  I have a mole on my chin that I have shaved down even with the rest of my skin with no ill effect, aside from bleeding.  It's been fine for 15 years now.

Very very good advice.  BTW, this being my first post, I like you guys.  Bald is best, except when the sun gets it and it burns.  Anyhow, I have 2 moles on my head, they are too flat to easily cut off, so I'm just careful shaving around them.  Go over them lightly, and you can still shave the hair.

I have a few small ones on my neck, I too want to get rid of them. The last time I took one off myself I took a piece of thread and tied it around realy tight for a day then yes used nail clippers to hack the dead mole off, but it did grow back.

Also Duffman, Welcome to the Family, post up an intro.

Glad this thread came up again.  I went to my dermatologist about a month ago.  I wanted to get the moles hacked off, but he suggested that it would not be a good idea.  They are too flat and the resulting scar would look worse.  So, I left them alone.

Also, it has been a long time since I have nicked one of them.  I probably just jinxed myself.

I'm sort of surprised that your dermatologist didn't recommend liquid nitrogen freezing. I know a person who had a bunch of moles all over and went to a dermatologist semi-annually and had a dozen or so frozen off per visit.   :/O

Probably not a mole, but a "skin tag."  Easily removed by a dermdoc (I had a whole pit-garden harvested a couple of years back, one the size of a lima bean; there are signs of resprouting).  For the bold, I suppose self-surgery might be an option.  But with a good medplan, hire it out.

I think what you might be talking about is a skin tag, though... those are different.  A mole is a raised part of the skin usually with a darker pigment color to them.  But, either way, a doc should check them out.  And look for my personal intro in a new thread  :D

I get skin tags all over the place and have had a few removed along the perineum just to make sure they were nothing abnormal or to be concerned about.  Those were the only ones that got irritating.  Fortunately, I have not had any on my noggin with the exception of a small one on my upper eyelid.

Completely agree.  Moles are very serious and continual irritation can cause them to become cancerous.
