Title: Greeting from Austin, TX
Post by: Waypoint3D on May 18, 2009, 02:50:13 PM
I'm 58 and ready to shave the dome.  Never realized how much was available until I started searching this site.  Great bunch of folks here with a lot of great info.

Been cutting my hair shorter and shorter over the years and shaving my head has been on the bucket list for a long while.  Didn't give it any serious attention since I thought it would be too much effort to maintain.  After lurking this forum my mind has changed.   Just ordered some goodies from HB to get started.

Though I think I'll keep the beard ...  ;)

You guys definitely know how to make a noob fit in!

Going to visit the hair stylist Wednesday and clip it as short as possible.  Even though I only visited every 5 weeks or so, I'm going to miss seeing her, she's a great friend.  Besides, I don't think my beard trimmer could handle the job.

Should have the HB gear by the weekend and officially join the SLY group!

Welcome from another Austinite!

Austinite? Do people really say that? It sounds like a rock! Come see our scenic deposits of natural Austinite! Visit our shop where you can buy exquisite gifts carved from local Austinite!

(I've lived in Michigan for a decade and still can't bring myself to say Michigander.)

Welcome, Waypoint3D.

Indeed we do.

It sounds like a rock!

You're confusing it with the substance that's deadly to the 6 Million Dollar Man.

After searching pages and pages about 6MDM (and his potential susceptibility to rocks) and wracking my brain for memories (I have exactly two memories about 6MDM: some guy running in slow motion with weird sound effects and some woman (who, it turns out was not Jamie Lee Curtis, but Lindsay Wagner (playing a character named Jaime Sommers) ripping apart a phonebook in front of a classroom), I realize that 6MDM's name is Austin and begin to *consider* the possibility that bootedbear is pulling my leg.

Sly ones, you Austinites.

Austin was my stomping ground for about 3 years while I was getting my Master's at UT. A sly dome would have been great for cooling off during those horrid summers. Too bad they weren't quite as popular back then.

(By the way, is a female "Michigander" a "Michigoose?" LOL)

LOL.. Kryptonite, being deadly rock from krypton mixed in some 6 mill dollar man (Steve Austin... Astronaut... A man barely a live..)

BAM!  Austinite.

Man, I thought it was just me and herronm that lived in Texas.  Welcome aboard, waypoint!
