Sounds good. Damn I have a long list of bands, but some include Origin, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour of Penance, Hate Eternal, In Flames, At the Gates, Skinless...And much, much more.
Outlaw Country and Southern Rock......(Going to see David Allen Coe next week at the House of Blues during the Harley Davison Rally here) As for rap, I can tolerate Kid Rock and country rapper Colt Ford...but thats about it.

Dang, I was into death metal and stuff when I was in high school and I don't know ONE band you mentioned Peter. You guys like Obituary? I saw them several times when I lived in South Florida and they frikken rocked.

Eluveitie fan?
Yup! Not many people can spell that either, I'm impressed bro O0
i feel the same way about death metal as a lot of you feel about rap. death metals torture to my ears. i guess i just didnt grow up listening to it so i cant tolerate it as well.
ill give it another shot though sometime.
the only music group relatively close to metal that i like is KORN.

Oh boy Ghost, if I ever had you listen to the bands I listen to I think you would poo yourself. But hey, evidently not all of us enjoy the same stuff, which is what makes people interesting. Judging by the way you look I would have never guess you'd be a rap fan. You strike me as more of a hardcore person.
PeripheralxMvmnt and Peterthebald...... check out a band called Marionette, they are on myspace, I saw them at as a support for Deathstars and was blown away!!
As the music genre question, I am a metal fan through and through, although I am a sucker for anything Mike Patton touches (faith no more, mr bungle, fantomas etc)
haha thats what EVERYONE says! lol. i was in the library at my college one time and this guy came up to me and randomly started talking to me about this heavy metal concert he was going to. and i was like.....o i dont know anything about that sorry. and hes like "o my bad dude you look like your a slayer type of guy" lol.
im faaaaaar from heavy metal. im a HUGE rap guru. i know it like i know the back of my hand lol. i was/is in a rap group with 2 buddies. i just dont do the whole gangsta look and sh*t. i did that when i was in HS and grew out of it because i realized how stupid i looked lol. i just like to dress more conservative. thats why people figure im into the heavy metal scene.
i dont hate heavy metal really. it just gives me a headache so i dont listen to it lol. i do like a song by cradle of filth though. i forget what its called. it has a chik in the chorus. so theres a few songs here and there that catch my attention.
btw im kinda surprised as well. from your avatar you had up before with the camo shirt on i figured you were into rap. you looked G'ed up from the feet up haha.

Yea man Obituary is another great band, one of the classics of death metal. A couple of those bands I had listed were formed in either 2000 or later, the rest in the early 90's. If you happen to still enjoy brutal, technical death metal, Origin and Fleshgod Apocalypse are probably the best I've ever heard. You can never go wrong with In Flames, they make truly great, melodic music. Well, their old stuff at least.

Yea dude I knew I couldn't have been the only one who thought you looked more on the metal side! But yea, metal isn't everyone's thing, people also assume I'm into rap when I wear camo stuff. It's just that some of the bands I listen to wear that exact same shirt so I figure hey, they're metal, I'm metal, I'll wear it because it's pretty bad ass looking. Typically when it comes to metal also it's usually either bald, or really long straight hair. I get mixed reactions from people also but it's cool, as I'm far from a fan of rap lol.
so you dont listen to any rap? theres some rappers out there nowadays that are collaborating with rockers.
lil wyte has 2 songs with the guy from saliva, nas made a song with korn, techn9ne makes some rock/rap songs, and HeD PE does some collabos with rappers same with nine inch nails i believe. i dunno how hardcore HED PE is though in your book lol.

Hard to believe right? Zero rap. I used to be a big fan of 2Pac. DMX, Immortal Technique and other pretty popular rappers, but over the years my taste in music took a complete 180. I have metal head carved into my forehead pretty much. But hey, it's not for everyone, and that's fine with me. I had no idea Nas made a song with Korn, that's interesting. As for HED PE, I dunno man, a lot of the stuff I listen to is capable of shattering ear drums lol.
I got a kick out of Marilyn Manson doing a song with Eminem :XX
You want some Metal? Listen to "Deadly Sinners" by Three Inches of Blood. The singers birthname is Cameron Pipes. Cam Pipes.
Your face will melt.

lol i gotta admit i love the names of heavy metal bands lol.
I'm a sucker for fast drums and rough production values lol B@%d
As far as electronic stuff, ive just recently got my feet wet. Ive started to get into Royksopp and Daft Punk and ive heard Ladytron before. Any others you recommend Ricktus?
Oh yeah, right now I really love Crystal Castles, and you should definitely check out the album 'Homogenic' by Bjork. Its 12 or 13 years old and still sounds totally futuristic and mindblowing. Also have you heard of Alec Empire? His album 'Intelligence and Sacrifice' is one of my favs, its electro music but it's also got a really aggressive metal feel to it, which you might like.
Hey Peter, those bands are awesome! I was listening to Immortals 'At The Heart Of Winter' this morning while I made breakfast btw. That whole 90's period was a great time for BM, so many amazing albums came out. Emperor, Immortal, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Satyricon...
Has anyone herd the Manson Remix of You Spin Me Right Round By Billy Idol?? Frikkin Hillarious!
"You Spin Me Right Round By Billy Idol"
Is this like getting "Rick Rolled" on You tube?
I didn't know Billy Idol sang this song (I remember the video had some weird looking long haired dude with a patch), so I google it and I get a million videos of "You Spin me Right Round By Billy Idol!" I play one and it has pics of Billy Idol but the song is clearly sang by long haired patch dude.
R-MC, I haven't heard the Manson remix, but I like the Tainted Love cover they do.

The other main kind of music I love is Black Metal, anything from the early innovators like Mercyful fate and Bathory.

Ricktus, you have an awesome taste in black metal, I like it! Mayhem, Bjork, Darkthrone and Satyricon are all great bands. Dark Funeral is good too, and who can forget about Burzum. Windir is another black/viking metal band you would probably enjoy. And you're definitely right, the 90's were a great black metal decade, my collection is still nowhere near complete though. Every day I search for new bands and I tend to find one's that I really enjoy.
pardon my ignorance but is "mushroomhead" considered heavy metal? i kinda like them cuz theyre from ohio i think.
i also kinda like slipknot.

Guys, I'm gunna try and clear some things up here. It seems metal has become a very complicated genre over the past 2 decades. Having multiple genres then evolving into sub genre's. Those who can truly understand metal are those who are dedicated to the music. Slipknot and Mushroomhead definitely go at each others throats, mostly due to the mask thing. Slipknot apparently are considered nu-metal, Mushroomhead I'd have to say alternative also. I could go in forever, but it would take up way too much space on this thread.

There you go fella's. Can't forget about one of my personal favorites, Brutal Death Metal. O0
I'd like to note that Nu-metal is garbage and isn't generally accepted as an acceptable form of music, see Limp Bizkit etc.

I don't like black metal, but these names of some of the bands are hillarious! Is it just me, or does it sound like some of the bands are ripping off Marvel?? Venom?? LOL

xnewyawka, Celtic Frost are great( did you hear their latest album 'Monotheist' btw, it rules), Venom too. Both legendary originators! Can't forget Kreator and Sepultura either. Those bands are mainly considered thrash, but their very early stuff is definitely more in a Black Metal vein.
And yeah Notorious, most metal is actually pretty damn ridiculous. I always think of it as being pure over the top escapism. All the cliches (Death, Destruction, Rage, How damn 'metal' your band is etc); The sheer over the topness of the music; Guys in their 40's and beyond with tight trousers and long hair, pulling aggressive metal faces while they play lightening fast guitar solos.
If you find the band names hilarious, you are on your way to loving it ;D
The only reason I cannot stand too much metal is because there is too much hate in the music. I like the good ole american music, Sex, clubs, & Party music lol. Like T.I., T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Heavy D, LL Cool J, Hip Hop Musik. Something with a good beat, does not give you a headache from all the screaming in your ear drums. I do like some metal but old stuff, like Sabath, Kiss, Zeplin, Ozzy. altho they dont consider those as metal anymore, but now they are consitered classic rock. Except Ozzy, he is still classified in the Metal Genre, same with Sabbath, But Kiss and stuff is now considered Classic Rock.

Ahhh! But you see Notorious, that's one of the many stereotypes metal is given. What people don't seem to understand is metal is about fun. Bands like Cannibal Corpse whose lyrical themes revolve around extreme violence, are complete jokesters. They aren't to be taken that seriously. Are they focused on their music? yes, work hard? absolutely! But these guys are perfect examples of just a bunch of friends having fun. I've seen one of their DVD's, the vocalist, George Fisher plays world of warcraft all day. They love and appreciate their fans like no other. Sure you have your bands whose lyrics are based on hate, being tired of mankind etc. But overall, they are great guys who love nothing more than to create awesome music. Metal isn't about looking demonic like everyone assumes, it's about attitude, which is not necessarily a negative one. Sorry for the rant Notorious, I completely respect the fact you love your kind of music, we all have our preferred genre's. I'm just trying to clear some things up and show the positives about my music.
Kiss, which is one of my favorite metal bands dress demonic, KISS also stands for Knights In Satan's Suits.

Stanley came up with the name; as he, Simmons, and Criss were driving around New York City. Criss mentioned that he was in a band called Lips, so Stanley said what about Kiss (Reminisced by Simmons on the Kiss video Exposed). Frehley created the now-iconic logo (making the "SS" look like lightning bolts) when he went to write the new band name over Wicked Lester on a poster outside the club where they were going to play.[10] The runic letters happened to look similar to the insignia of the Nazi SS, a symbol that is now illegal to display in Germany. Therefore to avoid controversy, after 1979 most of the band's album covers and merchandise in Germany have used a modified version of the logo, in which the "SS" looks like a backwards "ZZ". Simmons and Stanley are both Jewish. The band's name has been rumored to have many hidden meanings, among them an acronym for Knights In Satan's Service or Keep It Simple Stupid.[11] None of these rumors have any basis in fact, and the band has consistently denied them.
-wikipedia. just wanted to um, put that out there.

I tried giving that stuff a chanse, used to live with a buddy of mine who is BIG into it, I mean he gets major pissed if you diss it, listened to it alot when I was living with him, still could not get into it. Thank god my roomate Stephen who is also on this site (Keepin It Fresh) is really big into Hip Hop like me!
