Title: irritation- need help fellas!
Post by: HoodooMan on May 03, 2009, 07:39:59 PM
i use neutrogena oil-free acne wash on my head and face every day, morning and night in the shower.

my routine

-wash with neutrogena wash while letting shower steam soften up hair and open poors
-rub a few drops of shave secret oil on head
-use shaving brush and lather up shaving gel for sensitive skin (usually edge)
-mach three does the rest
-afterwards i use aveeno all natural lotion on my head. i ve used it on my face for years with great results. no acne and keeps the skin hydrated

not always, but often, when i shave my head gets irritation and acne after a shave. my face is always clear and not irritated. what would you guys suggest i change/try? thanks for help in advance!

i also use oil free non poor clogging sunscreen

Try a cold water/ice cube rinse, then Thayers Alcohol Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera.

Don't use any alcohol content astringents.

I agree with Red on the ice cold rinse...but would personally recommend either aloe vera gel or ClearHead and see if you get any results.

thanks for the suggestions fellas! the neutrogena wash i use also contains Salicylic Acid, which is the active ingredient in ClearHead by headblade. is it safe for the skin to use both witchhazel and another acne complex such as neutrogena or clearhead?

Dude, the cold water rinse is amazing. It feels so good, especially after a bad shave. I like to stick my head in absolutely freezing cold water and leave it for a solid 1-2 minutes, once the rinse is finished you'll feel so refreshed.

Lay off the Shave Secret and start using something like HeadSlick or BaldGuyz shaving gel.

Yes for sure stop using the shave secret. I break out when I use it.  Also follow Tylers advice and get some headslick or baldguys shave gel!  O0
