Folks,
I sincerely believe that the present day media has its role to play in making life difficult for already bald or balding men. The whole image of the ultimate man with hair load of thick hair, excellent facial features and ripped body has led the females to develop very wrong expectations of their man..
The number one reason for emotional distress due to MPB is fear of rejection by the ladies and then the rest follows. What do you think? Is there a solution to this? We really need to educate people to develop sensitivity towards this. In fact same argument applies to physical ailments or other short comings.
I have stayed in West as well Asia and I feel Asians are more towards physica attributes, face value than the inner person.

You are right on.. But imagine if u lived way back in the day when it wasn't acceptable to have a shaved bald head.. You would be stuck with the horseshoe like the entire male side of my family.. Be thankful that completely bald is as acceptable as it is.. A lot of bald guys in the media so it's not entirely bad

I have lived in the west (Midwest U. S.) since birth. I think we like to say that we see the inner beauty to be more important than the outer. IN MY OPINION (I could be wrong and I am not saying 100% of Americans feel this way) we, here in the west, are extremely superficial. I mean read some of the other threads in "Reactions to being bald" and feel the level of $h!t that some of our sly bros have tolerated from superficial westerners. Then watch TV and check out some of our commercials. I have stopped watching the news because I am tired of being insulted, and I mute commercials.
I was always of the opinion that easterners were the more spiritually inclined. If it's true that people in the east are as superficial as people in the west I am led to one of two conclusions:
1) It is human nature to be superficial. That means I can stop worrying about superficiality.
or
2) We, as a planet, are truly FUBAR! Whew, now I can stop worrying about that, too.
Truly, my friend, if your big worry about MPB is the ladies there is an old saying that someone very smart told me once. I will share it with you and, by extension, with all the sly bros who may read this thread.
There are two things I need to know in life:
Where am I going?
and
Who is going with me?
And God help me if I get them in the wrong order!

The fact is the average human being is inconsiderate. So people will utter what comes to their mind.
Imagine if we all did that, man this world would be full of sh*t. People need to grow up, leave others
alone, and accept them for who they are.
I see people with features that are not common but I don't go to them and point it out.
People have a right to feeling comfortable with others. Unfortunately, humans have failed giving others that right.
It's sad but it's a reality and you need to be ready not to accept any crap from others.

Since going sly I have received a few negative comments from people but, maybe because of my age/experience, I don't take it personal. I believe that it is more about the speaker than it is about me. So I don't feel the need to become defensive at the first sign of negativity. I have to go aways before I would get in someone's face about some stupid comment about my scraped skull.
I remember reading a book by David Allan Coe about time he spent in prison. He addresses the subject of being verbally baited by other prisoners and the prevailing wisdom from seasoned convicts is to let it go until the speaker actually makes contact with you physically. At that point it's time to get busy. :x!
And I have found that if I ignore a person's most earnest attempts to get me riled with comments the whole thing becomes more tiring for them than it is for me.
Plus, I'm a-scared to get my a$$ kicked.
