Title: Ward's Reviews - Alba Shaving Cream Coconut Lime
Post by: rward086 on May 02, 2009, 03:35:05 PM
I saw and purchased this from Martin's, in the organic food aisle.

Ease of lathering: No lather at all. I'm a lather junkie, so this was a huge turn-off. I hate getting my hands messy and favor using a cream or soap that I can lather with a brush.

Life span of lather: Even though there was not a 'lather', the cream stayed on my head for a couple passes.

Moisturizing: Very good. It has organic aloe leaf juice, vegetable glycerin, along with jojoba seed oil. Good stuff.

Lubrication: Decent. It does make your head slick, so your razor passes easily.

How protective?: Not very good. I felt irritation that I don't get with soap and creams.

Scent: This is what attracted me to the product initially. It has a light coconut and lime scent along with a hint of mint, which is probably from the menthol.

Price: Around $6, which is way too much $ for the lack of quality shave you get.

Would you buy again?: No. I'd say the best part of this product is that it's named Alba, like     JESSICA Alba   ^-^

Moisturizing - 9/10

Lubrication - 7/10

How protective? - 2/10

Scent - 9/10

Price - 5/10

Would you buy again? 1/10

Overall: 4.8/10

I'd agree.  I've tried this and was so disgusted with it I forgot to review it.

One good use I was able to put this cream to was a combo
 of:

Alba Coconut Lime Shave Cream
Hot Six Oil
Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave

I used the Hot Six mixed with the Alba shave cream as a pre-shave lubricant. Then I lathered the VDH soap on my head with a brush.

The scents of the 3 worked marvelously together. It was like a mini tropical vacation. I got a great shave too!  #a^3

I agree. I tried it awhile back and gave up after a couple tries. I use a badger brush and couldn't even get a good cover (or any lather at all for that matter) with it.
